Does anyone else feel St. Louis trending? For the second time in one week, our mah-velous metropolis was dosed with distinction by a national publication. Lucas Peterson, the “Frugal Traveler” for the New York Times travel section, complimented us for having “so much to see and do — as much as a city twice its size — and all of it within easy reach.” When it came to attractions, Peterson tipped his cap to the City Museum, calling it “one of the most odd and engaging art projects and public spaces I’d visited in awhile.” While this sort of praise can be double-edged — that “who knew” discovery by East Coasters of the fine features of flyover country — it’s hard to argue with the following assessment of St. Louis hospitality: ” … that distinct Midwestern sense that if you stop random people on the street, there’s a very good chance they grew up nearby and are excited to share the name of their favorite bar with you.” Come back any time, Lucas.
