NEW LONDON, Conn. (AP) — A New Hampshire man faces eight years in prison for sexually assaulting a woman he forced into his hotel room at a Connecticut casino. Nicholas Soucy, of Newton, New Hampshire, pleaded under the Alford doctrine Tuesday to second-degree sexual assault and unlawful restraint. That means while he disagrees with the prosecution’s case, he acknowledges there is enough evidence for a conviction. Prosecutors say the woman was at the Foxwoods Resort Casino last November to celebrate her 21st birthday with friends. She told investigators she became separated from them and Soucy followed her into the elevator, and she accidentally got out at his floor. She says he pushed her into his room and raped her. A guest in an adjacent room called security after hearing her yelling. Sentencing is Oct. 17. (© Copyright 2018 The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.
