Marlowe Alter Detroit Free Press Published 8:10 PM EDT May 15, 2019 Two days after signing as an undrafted free agent, WFMJ TV (Youngstown, Ohio) is reporting Wednesday former Michigan State Spartans running back LJ Scott is not with the Cleveland Browns anymore. “Source close to LJ Scott tells me LJ has decided to not play football and has left the #Browns” tweeted Dana Balash, the station’s sports director. Scott, from Youngstown, signed with Cleveland on Monday. After not getting drafted, Scott agreed to join the Baltimore Ravens and attended the team’s rookie minicamp earlier in May. Scott is the ninth-leading rusher in MSU history with 2,855 yards. He suffered an ankle injury in MSU’s second game of the 2018 season and played in just five games. His biggest moment in college may have come as a freshman in the Big Ten title game, when his physical 1-yard touchdown run with 27 seconds left in the fourth quarter gave the Spartans the win and a berth in the College Football Playoff.
