The crash, which left the car sheared in half, occurred about 7:15 p.m. Wednesday at Burbank Boulevard and Hayvenhurst Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Joel David White, 25, of Long Beach, and Luiza Vaagnovna Karakhanyan, 19, whose city of residence was not known, died at the scene, the coroner’s office reported. According to an LAPD statement, the 2016 Lamborghini was being driven westbound on Burbank Boulevard “at a high rate of speed” when it collided with a 2018 Jeep Cherokee. “The Jeep was negotiating a left turn on Burbank Boulevard just east of Hayvenhurst Avenue,” police said. “The force of the collision caused the Lamborghini to lose control, colliding with trees and causing it to split, ejecting the male driver.” The 36-year-old Los Angeles man driving the Jeep suffered minor injuries. He was interviewed by officers.
