Pats 2nd and 14 from the 41. Complete over the middle to Ryan Izzo is Brady. 3rd and 3 now from the 30. And they try a sweep toss left. No dice. Whoops. Brings up 4th and 5 from the 32. And they’ll go for it again. And fail again. To Edelman. Incomplete pass and the Giants will take over on downs.
:00 – The Giants started the drive at the 30, but a holding penalty pushed them back to the 20. On 2nd and 1 from the 27, Michel again, this time for no gain, setting up 3rd and 1. Brady kept the ball again, first time I can recall two sneaks in a game, and one not at the goal line, in a while. BUT, a flag for a hold on the defense gives the Pats a 1st down. 1st and 10 from the 44, then, for the Pats, Brady to Bolden over the middle for a short gain, bringing up 2nd and 4 from the 50. A nice run from Bolden was wiped out by a holding penalty on Edelman on the edge. Now 2nd and 14 from the 40 for the Pats, Brady completed to Bolden, who slipeed through the screen into Giants territory, making it 1st and 10 at the Giants 44 after a gain of 16. Then Brady found Edelman over the middle for another first down. 1st and 10 from the Giants 32. One yard completion to
Meyers makes is 2nd and 9 from the 31. A short pass to White on the right side gets the Pats to the 29, another short gain. On 3rd and 7 from the 29, Brady missed Izzo. On 4th and 7 from the 39, the Pats will go for it. On the pass, Brady completes to Meyers on the left side, and we will get a measurement. Or not. Holding on the defense. Wow. Automatic first down for the Pats at the Giants’ 24. On 1st and 10, Brady misses Edelman. Badly. On 2nd and 10, Brady hits Edelman over the middle. He’s upended after a gain of 5. On 3rd and 5 from the 19, They try the quick pass to White again, and the sweep-like play goes nowhere. Pats now 4th and 8 from the 22. Mike Nugent to try a field goal into the wind,. His kick was long enough, but it hit the left upright. No good. No scoring after a nearly 10-minute drive.
12:12 – The Giants started the second half with some success, gaining a pair of first downs on a run and pass each to Hilliman. They converted on a 3rd and 3 from about the 50 to set up 1st and 10 at the Patriots 30. But then, as has been their wont this season, the Pats’ defense came up huge. Gilmore picked off Daniel Jones on the right sideline, and returned the ball to the Pats.
:00 – Giants started 1st and 10 at the 21, and they take a knee and head to halftime. At the half, we have a 21-14 Patriots advantage. Ugly half all around. Ug-Ly.
:36 – The Patriots start 1st and 10 from the 25. The give was to Sony Michel for 5 yards. On 2nd and 5 from the 30, then, Sony Michel carried up the middle for 7 yards and a 1st down. On 1st and 10 again from the 37, Michel carried for a gain of 2. On 2nd and 8 from the 39, the give was again to Michel, and he danced forward through the line for a gain of 2. The Pats then have a 3rd and 6 from the 41 forthcoming. The Giants called timeout. Brady complete to White for a first down. On 1st and 10 from the 49, the teams paused for the 2-minute warning. On the first play out of the break, Brady finds Jakobi Meyers up the right side for 23 yards. Patriots 1st and 10 at the Giants 28. On first down, the Pats got 4 yards on a Brady-to-Edelman completion. On 2nd and 6, Brady dumped it off to his safety valve, James White, who picked up enough for a first down. Patriots 1st and 10 at the 17. Pass complete from Brady to White at the right side. he can’t get out of bounds, and the Pats take a timeout. The completion was for five yards, and it will be Patriots 2nd and 5 from the 12. James White took the handoff on a shovel pass (a touch-pass, really) after the snap to Brady and ran the 12 yards in for a touchdown. The call was automatically reviewed by the home office in New York City. Upon review, the runner was down. New England will then have 1st and 10 at the 1. Brady keeps the ball. Touchdown. For real this time. Mike Nugent on for the extra point try, and it was good. SCORE UPDATE: Patriots 21, Giants 14
4:38 – The Patriots start this drive at the 25 after a touchback. On 1st and 10 from the 25, Brady completed up the right side to Julian Edelman for 29 yards. First and 10 at the Giants’ 46. Brady was complete again to Edelman, but it was a short flat pass left, and Edelman went backwards. Wrong way. On 2nd and 12 from the 48, The Patriots suffered a pair of really bad things. First, the ball was jarred loose from Brady and the Giants picked it up and ran the other way with it for a touchdown. Perhaps worse, Josh Gordon, after nearly stopping the TD on the other end, was down on the turf and looked to be severely hobbled. He needed the trainer, but he ultimately walked off the field. But, we have a really new game. Extra point is good. SCORE UPDATE: Patriots 14, Giants 14.
6:05 – The Patriots’ kickoff went through the end zone and the Giants took over at their own 25, 1st and 10. On first down, Daniel Jones completed on a crossing route to Golden Tate for 7 yards. On 2nd and 3 from the 32, Hilliman ran for 4 yards, given the Giants and 1st down. On 1st and 10, Jones hooked up with Tate for a 64-yards and a touchdown. The ball sails to the Pats’ 10, where it is downed by the Giants. A penalty flag on the play for an illegal formation gave the Pats’ a bit of breathing room to start their next drive.
0:00 – The Pats kick it through the end zone and the Giants will start again 1st and 10 from their own 25. The Patriots block the punt with pressure up the middle. Brandon Bolden with the block, Chase Winovich picked it clean and ran it in for a touchdown. Mike Nugent with the extra point. SCORE UPDATE: Patriots 7, Giants 0.
3:31 – The Patriots took over 1st-and-10 at their own 12. On first down, Brady tried a pass to Michel, incomplete. On 2nd and 12, they handed the ball to James White. Up the middle, he gained just a yard, setting up 3rd and 9 from the 13. Out of the gun on 3rd down, Brady found Ryan Izzo deep over the middle after having forever to throw the ball thanks fot O-Line protection. Two penalties, both on the Giants and both declined. That set up 1st and 10 at the 33 for the Pats. They gave the ball to Sony Michel up the middle again, and he gained 3. On 2nd and 7 from the 36, Brady tried to find Edelman. He never had it, said the officials. But the Giants challenge that Edelman indeed caught it and then fumbled. If that’s the case, the Giants recovered, and it will be their ball.
After review, the call on the field stood. Incomplete pass. Pats dodged a bullet.
On 3rd and 7, then, from the 36, Brady was incomplete left to Olszewski. That set up a 4th and 7, and brought out Bailey to punt. His kick went out of bounds at the Giants 18.

6:47 – Janoris Jenkins got the ball right back for the Giants after an awful throw from Tom Brady right into his hands. Edelman was wide open, and he missed him. The return, minus a 15-yard penalty, though, set the Giants up at the Pats’ 50.
7:07 – On 1st and 10 from their own 30, the Giants went back to Hilliman, who gained three yards. On 2nd and 7, Jones tried to go over the middle and the ball was tipped into the air. DE John Simon came down with it. Interception, Patriots.
7:54 – The Patriots started 1st and 10 from their own 20 on their second drive of the night. The first drive stalled at the
Giants’ 18 after a failed fourth-down conversion. On 1st and 10, Brady was sacked at his own 13, a loss of 7 yards. That set up 2nd and 17 from the 13. On that play, Brady completed quickly to the left flat to Meyers for a gain of 7. Back to the original line, it set up 3rd and 10 from the 20. On that play, Brady shovel-passed to James White, but it only went for 6 yards, setting up 4th and 4. On that completion, though, Brady moved into third all-time in pass completions. Jake Bailey’s punt sailed to the Giants’ 30, where it was fair-caught. Turnover on downs.
9:44 – The Giants took over, 1st and 10 at their own 18. Daniel Jones and a cast of “who-are-these-guys” are the Giants’ offense. Also of note here is old friend Nate Solder, who starts at LT for these Giants. On first down, Jones finds Slayton in the left flat and completes for 9 yards. On 2nd and 1, the give was to Hilliman, and he was stuffed for no gain. On 3rd and 1 from the 27, they went empty, and Jones’ pass was incomplete. The first 3-and-out for the G-man. Dixon to punt, Olszewski deep for the Pats. The kick was well placed, and went out of bounds at the Patriot 20. Good boot. Pats take over.
11:15 – The opening kick was taken by Brandon Bolden at the goal line, and he returned it to the 28. Patriots 1st and 10 from the 28. On the first play, the give is to Michel, who rumbled for four yards. Now 2nd and 6 from the 32 for the Pats. On that play out of an empty backfield, Brady swung the ball to Michel for a 29 yard gain. The next play, on first down, Brady gave to Bolden. With that previous completion, Brady passed Peyton Manning for second place all-time in passing yards. Meanwhile, after Bolden’s carry, Brady went to Josh Gordon for seven yards. Now at the Giants’ 21, on 2nd and 3, Michel carried up the middle for two yards. Now 3rd and 1 from the 19, and the Pats give again to Michel. He got no gain, setting up 4th and 1 from the 19. The offense stayed on the field. The give again to Michel, and he strung it to the right and fell forward, but not enough for a first down. Stunning, the Giants hold on their own 20.
15:00 – The New York Giants won the toss, they defer, the Pats receive and defend the North goal. Almost go-time here in New England! Brandon Bolden will receive the opening kick, if it’s playable, for New England.
The Giants (2-3) will be without their top weapons tonight, but the Pats expect them to bring an “attacking” style to all three phases, according to Bill Belichick. The G-Men are lead by first-round rookie quarterback Daniel Jones, who suffered his first defeat last week in a 28-10 loss to Minnesota.
Weather at Gillette Stadium is expected to bring rain and wind, with temperatures hovering in the mid-50s. The Patriots would move to 6-0 with a victory. Hours before kickoff, they’re favored by 17.5 points.
The Pats and Giants haven’t met since a thrilling 2015 regular-season game in New York capped by a late Tom Brady-led comeback. Brady is 11-1 all time when playing on Thursdays.
