An arctic blast that could see Brits freeze in temperatures as low as -6c has seen the Met Office issue a rare Amber weather warning .
Cold and severe weather warnings are set to take effect in England between 6pm on Wednesday and 9am on Monday, December 12.
Temperatures across the UK are set to plummet, with the Met Office warning that the south of the country can expect very cold nights as well as frost.

Wintry showers are likely in coastal areas, with the Met Office warning noting that “roads and railways are likely to be affected with longer journey times” in the north of the country.
Information from the Met Office noted that cold weather could see an increase in health risks to vulnerable groups.
Social and healthcare services have been asked to take action to protect high-risk individuals from a slate of weather warnings that see cold snaps and temperature plummets.
Showcasing their “warning impact matrix”, the snowstorm set for Wednesday will have a likely chance of disruption.
Those needing to make a journey in ice and snow were warned by the Met office to make sure they have “clothes, food, water, boots, a torch” as well as “a spade” in their car.
Those travelling in snow or ice should “avoid travel if possible” but if they cannot, must “let someone know when you expect to arrive and your route.”
Temperatures throughout the days listed by the Met Office are set to remain near or just above freezing temperatures, with the weather office asking people to take necessary precautions.
A statement from the Met Office read: “Rather cold conditions are expected to turn colder across much of the UK later Wednesday and through Thursday as air from the Arctic spreads south across the country.
“Very cold nights are expected, with widespread frosts and potentially severe frosts.”
The statement continued: “Daytime temperatures persisting near or just above freezing, with overnight temperatures continuing to trend downwards.
“Wintry showers are also likely to affect some coasts, perhaps pushing into some inland areas at times, bringing a risk of icy patches.”
Forecasted showers are so far likely to cause travel disruptions to areas of Scotland, with an amber warning and note of longer journey times listed on the Met Office website.
Amber warnings from the Met Office cover the country from December 7 to December 12.
