GRANT Shapps has unveiled his cunning plan to solve the air travel crisis — holding weekly meetings. While passengers were hit with hundreds of flight cancellations and mountains of missing luggage, the Transport Secretary outlined a 22-point plan. His limp reaction includes lots of measures most travellers would expect to be happening already — like planning for the summer rush. They include setting up a Strategic Risk Group, a Summer Resilience Group and a Ministerial Border Group to talk about getting things moving. Mr Shapps said: “There is absolutely no excuse for further widespread disruption.” But opposition MPs blasted the poor response and demanded the PM himself intervene. Spain bans smoking on beaches for holidaymakers with risk of £1,700 penalty fine

Brits heading to Barcelona face being slapped with a big fine if they break new rules introduced today. From Friday it is illegal to light up on any of the beaches in the historic Spanish cities. Puffing on a cigarette will see you landed with a 30 euro (£25 fine) if you are caught. READ MORE: 'I avoided beaches because my body wasn't perfect – but now I proudly wear bikinis' The move follows a pilot programme last year, which massively reduced the rubbish caused by cigarettes including butts being left on the beach. The city's website explains: "This ban is based on environmental protection and the right of citizens to enjoy a clean public space, free of smoke & cigarette butts.” Although Barcelona is the first city in the country to ban smoking on beaches outright, individual spots across Spain have long forbidden the practice. Three beaches in Majorca - Santa Ponsa, La Romana (Paguera) and Carregador (Palmanova) - have a smoking ban already. La Tanya Eiland is from Compton, Calif. and has a passion for wine. So when she moved to Atlanta in 2013, she asked locals the question she always asks when she travels anywhere new: “Where is wine country?” In Atlanta, the most common answer was “north.” About 90 miles north of Atlanta, nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the city of Dahlonega has a dozen wine tasting rooms and eight wineries. Nearby communities, including Helen, Cleveland and Sautee Nacoochee, are also home to several establishments that offer local, regional and international wines. In total, North Georgia has more than 40 wineries and tasting rooms in a region that is becoming an increasingly popular destination for day trips and weekends away. Georgia actually has a long history with vineyards. The state was reportedly the sixth-largest wine grape producer in the United States before Georgia Prohibition came into effect in 1907. When Prohibition ended, Georgia’s wine industry … [Read more...] about Wine Country Is in North Georgia
