Passenger numbers continue to rise at Hollywood Burbank Airport

There are no signs of passenger activity slowing down at Hollywood Burbank Airport as the numbers continued to climb in July, jumping by about 19%.The airport saw 541,942 passengers in July, 86,362 more than the same month last year, said Nerissa Sugars, Hollywood Burbank‘s manager of air service development, during a meeting of the Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority on Sept. 23.Southwest Airlines, the largest carrier at Hollywood Burbank, had 355,089 passengers in July, a hike of 34,069 passengers over last year.American Airlines also had significant growth as it reported 33,119 passengers, an increase of 17,975 compared with the same month last year. World War II-era bomber plane crashes outside Conn. airport

A World War II-era bomber plane, owned by a Stowe, Mass. non-profit organization, crashed at Bradley International Airport in Connecticut Wednesday morning, officials said. The Federal Aviation Administration tweeted that the vintage Boeing B-17 crashed at the end of Runway 6 while attempting to land at the airport in Windsor Locks, Conn., at 10 a.m. Wednesday. “It is a civilian registered aircraft, not flown by the military,” FAA officials said. “Local officials will release information about the people aboard. Officials have closed Bradley International Airport, and the FAA has put in a ground stop for flights that are destined for the airport.” Kathleen Bergen, a spokeswoman for the FAA, said the National Transportation Safety Board is in charge of the investigation. (AFP/Michal CIZEK) With 10 minutes remaining in the first half, Hakimi - on loan from Real Madrid - sprinted down the right flank, wove his way through the Slavia defence into the box, fooled 'keeper Ondrej Kolar and blasted home left-footed. A minute before the final whistle, the 20-year-old Moroccan struck following another strong run and clinical finish with a low shot across goal to end Slavia's 24-game unbeaten streak in competitive games. "He played very well although he's not used to the position," Dortmund coach Lucien Favre said of Hakimi, who is a right-back by trade but started on the left wing.
