(CTN NEWS) – This weekend, ” Shazam! Fury of the Gods “ made its theatrical debut and felt the wrath of the public. According to figures released by the studio on Sunday, the New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. superhero film debuted to a lackluster $30.5 million from 4,071 cinemas. The “ Shazam!” sequel underperformed both its low ($35 million) and high ($53.5 million in April 2019) expectations. Earning a spot on the very low end of recent DC comics movie releases, betwee n “Birds of Prey” ($33 million in February 2020) and “The Suicide Squad” ($26.2 million in August 2021), both of which were R-rated. Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Jack Dylan Grazer, Adam Brody, and Djimon Hounsou were all present in “Shazam! Fury of the Gods,” which was directed by David F. Sandberg. Helen Mirren, Rachel Zegler, and Lucy Liu were also present. Most critics who enjoyed the original movie’s charm considered this one to be lacking. At the moment, it has a 53% Rotten … [Read more...] about ‘Shazam! Fury of the Gods’ Debut Falls Short With $30.5 Million

The world’s most populous Muslim-majority nation is hosting the U-20 World Cup from May 20 to June 11 in Indonesia’s six major cities. A total of 24 countries from five continents are participating, including Israel, after a two-year delay because of the COVID-19 pandemic. As the host country, Indonesia is automatically qualified for the tournament. Although Indonesia does not have formal diplomatic relations with Israel and is a strong supporter of the Palestinians, officials say the government will not prevent Israel from taking part in the tournament. F1: ‘I’ve never seen a car so fast’, says Lewis Hamilton of Red Bull
Formula One F1 – Saudi Arabian Grand Prix – Jeddah Corniche Circuit, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia – March 19, 2023 Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton in action during the race REUTERS/Hamad I Mohammed Lewis Hamilton, winner of a record 103 Formula One grands prix and seven world championships, said on Sunday he had never seen a car as quick as Max Verstappen’s Red Bull. The Mercedes driver was overtaken by the double world champion as Verstappen powered from 15th on the grid to second in a Saudi Arabian Grand Prix won by Red Bull’s Mexican Sergio Perez. It was Red Bull’s second one-two in two races this season and the only point they have missed so far was the bonus for fastest lap in Bahrain. “I’ve definitely never seen a car so fast,” Hamilton told reporters after finishing fifth in Jeddah. “When we were fast, we weren’t that fast. “That’s the fastest car I think, I’ve seen, especially compared to the rest. I don’t know how or why but he came past me with serious speed. “I didn’t … [Read more...] about F1: ‘I’ve never seen a car so fast’, says Lewis Hamilton of Red Bull
13 Women, 30 Activities and One Goal: Make Friends
Imagine walking into a party where you know almost no one (pathetic) — a party at which I, a stranger to you (probably), have arrived well before you (sorry). Should this occur in real life, it is inevitable that shortly after your entrance, as you are tentatively probing the scene in search of safe ingress into social traffic, I will yank you, abruptly, into the middle of a conversation. I will turn to you and start talking as if you’d been involved in the discussion for an hour. I will lob questions at you that are tailored so that any answer you give can be right. Soon, you will forget I dragged you into this interaction; your easy popularity will seem, in retrospect, inevitable. You will most likely feel at least vaguely friendly toward me, because I so clearly want to be your friend. And the whole time I am doing this — because, despite your rewritten recollections, I am the one doing all of this — I will be thinking: Oh, my God, I’m doing it again. I hate this. I hate this. Why … [Read more...] about 13 Women, 30 Activities and One Goal: Make Friends

Giant Mud Glaciers Are on the Move
It’s difficult to fathom how the Colorado River could possibly carve the mile-deep chasm that is the Grand Canyon. But if one thinks of the river as a flume of liquid sandpaper rubbing the land over millions of years, it begins to make sense. “The finest workers in stone are not copper or steel tools,” Henry David Thoreau wrote, “but the gentle touches of air and water working at their leisure with a liberal allowance of time.” In 1963, humans stopped time, when the brand new Glen Canyon Dam on the Utah-Arizona border cut off the reddish sediment that naturally eroded the Grand Canyon. Today the river runs vodka clear from the base of the dam. A map showing how Lake Powell has shrunk since 2000. Want to get leaner and fitter? Superfruit that could help discovered by scientists
Blueberries could be the key to getting leaner and fitter. Eating the fruit helps improve athletic performance and burn body fat, according to US researchers. They found that eating 25g of freeze-dried blueberries every day, which is equivalent to eating around a cup of the fruit in its natural form, prompts the body to burn more fat while exercising. On top of making you leaner, they could also help your muscles save their scarcer glycogen supplies — the body's main source of energy. This means the fruit could help you exercise for longer and even perform better, in theory. Blueberries are known to be high in antioxidants called anthocyanins, which gives them their deep purple hue. Found in other dark, red or purple berries, the darker the fruit, the more of the antioxidant it contains When exercising, the body breaks down fatty acids for energy, a process known as fat oxidation. But as a workout becomes more intense, the rate of fat oxidation decreases and no … [Read more...] about Want to get leaner and fitter? Superfruit that could help discovered by scientists
Creepy abandoned factory wanted by housing developers ‘undoubtedly’ contains dormant mad cow disease that could infect humans
An abandoned factory 'undoubtedly' contains traces of mad cow disease that risks infecting people, a scientist has warned. Thruxted Mill, between Ashford and Cantebury, was one of five sites in the UK where cows with the fatal brain disease were destroyed. It has since remained derelict for more than a decade but housing developers have expressed interest in building 20 homes on the 'dreadful' horror movie-like setting. And so-called urban explorers — those who visit manmade structures, usually places that are abandoned or hidden — have posted online about going to the site. But Professor Alan Colchester, a neurologist from the University of Kent, warned the area is a 'biohazard' and likely contains large quantities of contaminated material. The lazy guide to getting fit: Experts reveal the bare minimum you can get away – and still get results
We all know that getting fit - and staying that way - is a job in itself. And, with all the other pressures of modern life, many of us struggle to find the time to prioritise exercise. Happily, scientists have found that even the laziest, most sweat-resistant among us can transform our health and fitness by doing remarkably little. From blink-and-miss-it daily bursts of exertion that leave you puffed, to a brisk monthly walk, three-minute cold swims, or simply pottering around the house with the vacuum cleaner, there are many low-effort ways to improve your strength, brain and heart health, balance and longevity. And that means you'll be left with plenty of time to hit the sofa. Welcome to the lazy guide to getting fit and healthy … Make like a flamingo Dr Pollock says: 'The evidence base is that exercises that include both a little bit of strength and balance make a lot of difference' Consultant geriatrician Dr Lucy Pollock, author of The Book About Getting Older, … [Read more...] about The lazy guide to getting fit: Experts reveal the bare minimum you can get away – and still get results
