Lao traffickers arrested in Dien Bien Border guards in Dien Bien province have arrested two Lao nationals for illegally smuggling drugs. The suspects were identified as Ly A Sua, 42, and Hua A Cho, 31, residing in Phongsali district, Laos. Accordingly, at 22:00, the police caught them red-handed. These men were in possession of 6,000 pills of synthetic drugs, 3 kg of opium, and other exhibits which has now been seized by the authority. The arrested admitted they transported the drugs from Laos into Vietnam for consumption. Further investigation into the case is underway. VNUHCMC - University of Science announces new research results The Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City – University of Natural Sciences (UNS) has presented various new research results in its 11th scientific conference. According to Professor Doctor Tran Linh Thuoc, in the past 2 years, the university has carried out 5 national scientific technological researches in the basic development program, 26 basic research projects sponsored by the National Foundation for Science and Technology Development (Nafosted), 73 national-university-wide projects, and more than 15 projects suggested by the Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) Department of Science and Technology and the localities. We’ve all been there: the first time you open your payslip in Germany can come as quite a shock. Why? Well, because a big chunk of your wages is taken away in the form of tax and social security contributions. This is, of course, a good thing in many ways because it should (hopefully) mean that we live in a country with good public services and that we’ll be provided with excellent health care when we need it, a pension in future and long term nursing care. But there are problems ahead. German society is getting older and that means there’s going to be a bigger burden on care services, which are already struggling to cope. At the other end of the scale, people are having less babies, although family friendly policies, like paid parental leave, do seem to be having a positive impact on the birth rate.
