Three-year-old Max was found starving and close to death in an area which has seen some of the worst fighting since Vladimir Putin launched his invasion . The Belgian Malinois was nursed back to health and handed over to Ukrainian troops. He has been trained to understand Ukrainian and now has a new life sniffing out booby traps and unexploded mines.
