Arctic plunge

An Arctic blast of weather is on the way with wind chill temperatures plunging below zero on Sunday and Monday in widespread areas. In Denver on Saturday there’s a 30% chance for snow after 3 p.m., according to the National Weather Service forecast . Skies will be partly sunny and the high temperature in the city will top out near 33 degrees. Little or no snow accumulation is expected. In the central and northern mountains on Saturday heavy bands of snow are expected in the afternoon, with rates of 1 inch per hour at times, according to the weather service. Snow will be heavier north of Interstate 70, especially in the Park and Gore ranges. Afternoon travel conditions could be hazardous. Snow is expected to decrease overnight. Moderate snow will continue in the mountains today and will become much lighter tonight. Snow will pick back up tomorrow and will last into Monday with another foot of snow possible in Park and Gore Ranges. Two people have died and a third in hospital after they were struck by a car on a country road. Police say a man and a woman, both aged 32, died at the scene in Ynysybwl, near Pontypridd, South Wales. A TINY owl can be seen taking a sneaky nap on a stone wall - but is so well camouflaged many may struggle to spot it. Wildlife photographer Villager Jim captured the moment near Tideswell, Peak District, as the small bird took a quick rest. He said: "I love more than anything finding new little owls along the lanes, as more often that not they sit there and watch you go past, with 999 out of a 1000 people not even knowing they are there. "All the shots you see are less than 15 feet from the road side." The bird appears to be a Little Owl, a species that is typically encountered over most of the Peak District region. Its plumage seems the perfect camouflage, making visitors having to look twice. The Peak District attracts just about every owl from the official British List, given its ideal mix of habitat.
