An Arctic blast of weather is on the way with wind chill temperatures plunging below zero on Sunday and Monday in widespread areas. In Denver on Saturday there’s a 30% chance for snow after 3 p.m., according to the National Weather Service forecast . Skies will be partly sunny and the high temperature in the city will top out near 33 degrees. Little or no snow accumulation is expected. In the central and northern mountains on Saturday heavy bands of snow are expected in the afternoon, with rates of 1 inch per hour at times, according to the weather service. Snow will be heavier north of Interstate 70, especially in the Park and Gore ranges. Afternoon travel conditions could be hazardous. Snow is expected to decrease overnight. Moderate snow will continue in the mountains today and will become much lighter tonight.
