The DOH said these are just among the strategies the NVOC under the leadership of DOH spokesperson Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire in a bid to boost the vaccine uptake in the country. “During this transition period, the NVOC and vaccination sites will still continue with current operations in administering vaccines and boosters to the eligible population,” the DOH said in a statement. “[The] NVOC is also reviewing existing policies to identify possible points for revision, one of which is the integration of COVID-19 vaccines to routine immunization,” the Health Department added. Covid infections could surge when schools go back in September, scientists warn
The summer Covid surge is an early warning for even bigger wave when schools go back in the Autumn, experts fear. Scientists behind the ZOE Covid study app estimate Covid cases have passed 275,000 a day and could reach 300,000 early next week. It comes as UK hospitals have recorded around a three-fold increase in Covid admissions in the last month. Daily symptomatic infections have risen by 142% this month, rising from 114,030 on 1 June to 275,706 on Sunday, according to data based on reports to its app. The current spike, which experts believe could peak in the next fortnight, is being fuelled by more infectious Omicron sub-variants BA.4 and BA.5. They suspect the subvariants may return with a vengeance after the summer school holidays and when the cooling weather leads to more indoor mixing. However, the truth is absolutely different, and it is well-illustrated by comprehensive and objective analysis of the roots and drivers of this crisis. It is vital to understand them properly, without emotions and political prejudice. Agricultural production is indeed among the most injured sectors because of global economic instability. Moving beyond the old office
Traditional office setups may no longer be safe in the new normal. Since April 1, many businesses have already gone back to the office, particularly the outsourcing firms which were mandated by the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (Peza) to have majority of their employees working onsite. While many companies have complied, there are some who wish to retain work-from-home or work-from-anywhere schemes as options for their employees. Fearing mass resignation, several groups are pushing for flexible work options to help employees cope in the new normal. Could this new work scheme, however, lead to the death of traditional offices? More importantly, could this actually be a good thing for us in the long run? Let us take a look at how the COVID-19 pandemic affects and reshapes our workspaces. Challenges When the pandemic first hit our country, offices across cities suddenly became ghost towns. Many companies were forced to rely on digital means to carry out operations, with … [Read more...] about Moving beyond the old office
