Chinese man caught stealing $4,500 on Sihanoukville-HCMC flight

HCMC police have arrested a Chinese national for stealing $4,500 in cash from a fellow passenger on an Angkor Air flight last week. Citing aviation authorities, the Giao Thong Newspaper under the Ministry of Transport reported Friday that aircraft crew espied 42-year-old Cheng Xin Sheng rummaging through the bag of another passenger on a flight from Sihanoukville to Ho Chi Minh City last Saturday. Suspicious, they asked the other passenger, whose name and nationality have not been revealed, to check his belongings to see if anything had been taken. The passenger checked and claimed he'd lost $4,500 in cash. After the plane landed at the Tan Son Nhat Airport, the flight crew and airport security officers carried out an inspection and found the money in Cheng's luggage. Hanoi woman fined for stealing aircraft life jacket

Aviation authorities Saturday fined a Hanoi woman VND8.5 million ($365) for stealing a life jacket during a domestic flight. Duong Thi Dung, 59, was caught after a security check for a flight from the Lien Khuong International Airport in the Central Highlands town of Da Lat to Hanoi on October 7, the Southern Airports Authority said. Aviation security staff discovered an aircraft life jacket in her luggage. Investigators found that the life jacket was stolen from a Hanoi-Cam Ranh flight operated by low-cost carrier Vietjet on October 2. Dung admitted to aviation officials that she took the life jacket from under the seat, hid it in her baggage and managed to leave the airport without being caught. World War II-era bomber plane crashes outside Conn. airport

A World War II-era bomber plane, owned by a Stowe, Mass. non-profit organization, crashed at Bradley International Airport in Connecticut Wednesday morning, officials said. The Federal Aviation Administration tweeted that the vintage Boeing B-17 crashed at the end of Runway 6 while attempting to land at the airport in Windsor Locks, Conn., at 10 a.m. Wednesday. “It is a civilian registered aircraft, not flown by the military,” FAA officials said. “Local officials will release information about the people aboard. Officials have closed Bradley International Airport, and the FAA has put in a ground stop for flights that are destined for the airport.” Kathleen Bergen, a spokeswoman for the FAA, said the National Transportation Safety Board is in charge of the investigation.
