Coughs that last a long time this winter may be the result of people picking up one infection after another, a GP expert has said. Professor Kamila Hawthorne, chairwoman of the Royal College of GPs, said doctors have noticed that the current round of respiratory infections seems to be lasting longer than usual. She said figures from the College's research and surveillance centre show that rates of lower and upper respiratory tract infections are well above the average usually seen so far in winter. This is echoed in weekly data from the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA), which has found high rates of flu and other respiratory viruses. Prof Hawthorne said: "It's not clear why some of the current respiratory infections going around do seem to be lasting longer than usual - this has been noticed by doctors as well as patients, but we are not entirely sure why this is happening. Vladimir Putin body double ‘spotted’ after viewers notice clue in his shoes
Extraordinary new claims were made today that a major Vladimir Putin outing this week involved a body double and not the real president. The warlord was pictured wearing heeled shoes to bolster his 5ft 7in height during a meeting with Moscow State University students on Wednesday. But his smiling façade contrasts with a video from the day before when the glum 70-year-old dictator’s right hand was concealed from view. The latest claim of a doppelgänger came from Telegram channel General SVR. It suggested Putin’s “main double” - one of an alleged team of actors who have undergone plastic surgery to emulate a sickly and often-absent Putin - was deployed on this week’s university visit marking Russian Student Day. It's been claimed the man meeting Moscow students was actually one of three doppelgangers used by the Russian leader ( Image: Maksim Mishin/AP/REX/Shutterstock) “During a public meeting with students…many noticed some oddities and physiological features … [Read more...] about Vladimir Putin body double ‘spotted’ after viewers notice clue in his shoes

Archaeologists are pretty certain that the moat’s intended purpose was to prevent crusaders from invading the holy city. What they are less sure about is the hand imprinted onto the ancient slab of stone wall. Quarterback’s Little Helper
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — He answers to the nickname Jet, confesses to having “little man” syndrome and has a high-pitched voice — constantly imitated by his teammates and coach — that would make a high school freshman blush. But Jerick McKinnon, the Chiefs’ diminutive running back, has also made an outsized contribution as something of a quarterback helper. He caught nine touchdown passes during the regular season to tie the Hall of Famer Marshall Faulk’s 2001 mark for scoring receptions by a running back. “He just finds a way to get in the end zone,’’ Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes said. “A lot of those things he’s not the first read, he’s not the second read. He’s able to just be in the right spot at the right time whenever I need to hit a check down, I can get it to him and then he makes the most of it by getting into the end zone.” Perhaps the best example of McKinnon’s savvy came in a December game against the Denver Broncos, when Mahomes was flushed from the pocket … [Read more...] about Quarterback’s Little Helper
