Why we’re putting off having children: We have sex four times a week and lie-ins every weekend – why ruin things?

March 27, 2023 by www.dailymail.co.uk Leave a Comment

A childfree couple has revealed why they are not interested in having children - revealing that their status as non-parents means they have sex four times a week, go on 12 holidays a year and enjoy lie-ins every weekend . According to Taylor Vasu, 28, and her husband, Justin, 27, from Orange County, California , they don't want to end up 'miserable by having kids'. The couple are intentionally childfree and label themselves as DINKS - which stands for dual income no kids. Taylor and Justin, who have been together for six years, spend their free-time travelling, going for spontaneous lunch dates, working out together and sleeping in on the weekends. They book time off work at a 'weeks notice' and say they have 'wild sex' four times a week. The couple (pictured) say that not having children allows them to enjoy their free time, and they take 12 holidays a year Taylor believes it would be 'irresponsible' for her and Justin, an IT sales executive, to have children … [Read more...] about Why we’re putting off having children: We have sex four times a week and lie-ins every weekend – why ruin things?

‘I’m first black woman to visit every country – my scariest moment was right at home’

March 27, 2023 by www.mirror.co.uk Leave a Comment

A record breaking global traveller who has visited every country in the world had her hairiest moment in her home nation. Jessica Nabongo made history when she became the first black woman to travel to every country in the world (although that title is in slight contention thanks to fellow adventurer Woni Spotts' claim ). The Ugandan American arrived in the Seychelles flanked by dozens of her friends and family to make it all 195 United Nations recognised countries visited in 2019. Four years on and the Detroit native has turned her talents to hosting season one of WhatsApp’s Crossing Cultures, a series that explores how diasporic communities around the world create a home away from home while maintaining connections to their culture. In the show she goes off the beaten track in a number of countries in a bid to find less often visited communities and explore how they've built a new home. Jessica met people from the Nigerian community in Peckham ( Image: Supplied) … [Read more...] about ‘I’m first black woman to visit every country – my scariest moment was right at home’

My dad converted his barn into a mind-bending ‘palace’ – people who visit say it hurts their brain

March 27, 2023 by www.thesun.co.uk Leave a Comment

A DAD converted his barn into a palace of mind-bending art that leaves visitors both dizzy and amazed. David Hollowell has spent years filling his barn with 3D optical illusion murals as his daughter shares his wonderful work on TikTok . The 71-year-old who fell off a roof in 2021 and suffered severe brain injuries is now learning how to speak again. He has since been struggling with aphasia which affected his ability to speak and write. But this hasn't stopped him from dedicating his time to creating an immersive, electric and whimsical art space - all in his own barn. The door leading into the magical room has "Enchanted Hanging Garden Of Unearthly Delights" painted on its front, which is just a glimpse into what's to come. Why the Pacific Crest Trail will be more dangerous than ever this year

March 27, 2023 by www.sfgate.com Leave a Comment

The Pacific Crest Trail draws thousands of people from all experience levels annually. Some are thru-hikers hoping to complete the 2,650-mile trek through California, Oregon and Washington (from the Mexican border to Canada), in one journey, while others are weekend backpackers and day hikers taking on smaller sections of the trail. The hikers regularly contend with challenges like hypothermia, heat exhaustion, poisonous plants, lightning, bears and rattlesnakes, along with wildfires and other impacts of climate change . But this year, experts warn, hikers face one of the greatest risks in the trail’s history: the record-setting Sierra Nevada snowpack . "These large snowpacks can be susceptible to fast melt if the weather conditions are right," Andrew Schwartz, lead scientist at the Central Sierra Snow Lab , told SFGATE. "Periods of above-average temperatures, particularly if they're prolonged, can cause significant rises in stream and river flows, which can be dangerous.” … [Read more...] about Why the Pacific Crest Trail will be more dangerous than ever this year

HOW TO AVOID THE SEVEN DEADLY SCAMS

May 24, 2008 by www.mirror.co.uk Leave a Comment

Bogus lotteries, prize draws, get-rich-quick schemes and charity appeals are fleecing up to THREE MILLION Britons every year. Victims range from the old and vulnerable to wealthy benefactors, writes RACHAEL BLETCHLY. The scams cost the country up to £3.5 BILLION but less than five per cent of victims report their losses because they're too ashamed or embarrassed at being conned. The Office of Fair Trading recently launched a nationwide Scamnesty campaign to persuade the public to hand-in dodgy mailshots to trading standards officials. A spokesman said: "Often the first we hear of scam mailings is the horror stories of how people of all ages have received offers of money or prizes then sent cheques. The scams are evolving all the time and use heartless techniques that bring misery to many people." Here are Seven Big Cons that could be hitting your doormats or email account... The big red flag you should look for when booking your hotel

March 27, 2023 by www.thesun.co.uk Leave a Comment

NEXT time you are booking your holiday abroad, you may want to double-check the hotel you are staying at. While it can be tempting to book a new, fancy hotel, this could cause you problems when you arrive. Many tour operators will offer discounted deals for new hotels, called " soft openings ". This is because they are yet to have many reviews or ratings, so want to encourage guests to stay. However, a new hotel runs the risk of not being ready in time - and it could ruin your holiday or even delay it. Tim Hentschel, co-Founder booking platform HotelPlanner advises waiting a few weeks before being one of the first to visit. Viewers have praised This Morning for its live demonstration on how to check your breasts. Dr Sarah Kayat enlisted the help of Leigh-Ann, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2021 and who bravely went topless on the ITV show so that the demonstration could be as clear as possible. Holly Willoughby and Alison Hammond also sat down with designer Kelly Hoppen, who revealed to the Daily Mail that she was diagnosed with breast cancer after avoiding getting a mammogram every year for eight years. Dr Sarah said that checking your own breasts is extremely important and saves 1,300 lives in the UK each year. Viewers praised the show for doing the 'important' demonstration, noting that women are not 'really taught' how to check their breasts for lumps.
