Boris Johnson was accused of “unforgivable incompetence” today as a hunt got underway for a patient infected with the Manaus coronavirus variant. Public Health England has identified six UK cases of the P1 strain first detected in the Brazilian city. Two in England are from the same South Gloucestershire household after one person returned from Brazil on February 10 – just days before the Government's hotel quarantine rule came into force. Three cases involve Scottish residents who flew to Aberdeen from Brazil via Paris and London, who all tested positive while self-isolating. But it is unclear if the missing patient with the Manaus variant slipped into the UK before the hotel quarantine system came into force last month, or whether they contracted the virus here. Vaccines Minister Nadhim Zahawi said: "Part of the reason why we want to locate them quickly is to understand more about them and their movements." DANNY Dyer has revealed he left EastEnders because of the soap’s dwindling viewing figures and says the show's writer's "lost their way" with his character, Mick Carter. The 45-year-old actor departed his role as the Queen Vic landlord in dramatic scenes which showed him diving into the Chanel to save his beloved ex-wife Linda, played by Kellie Bright , with him not re-emerging from the water. When Danny joined the BBC One show in 2013, EastEnders was regularly getting up to eight million viewers a night, but in the past year those figures have dwindled to 2.5 million an episode.
