He announced Penn as his choice on Sunday. “I have a really strong relationship with the coaching staff, I loved the campus and the city of Philadelphia,” Zanelli said Tuesday of Penn. “And you can’t beat an Ivy League education.” Zanelli attended at camp at Penn earlier in June. Jay Farner, CEO of Quicken Loans, the nation's largest mortgage lender that Gilbert founded and built, made that point directly in his statement Monday on Gilbert's recovery: "Thanks to the strong culture and leadership Dan has built and grown, business at the Rock Family of Companies will continue under the normal, everyday direction of their respective CEOs," he said. JC Reindl Detroit Free Press Published 12:41 PM EDT May 21, 2019 Michigan regulators gave final approval Tuesday for the $1 billion sale of Dan Gilbert's Greektown Casino-Hotel, set to happen later this week. Four members of the Michigan Gaming Control Board voted unanimously in favor of the sale, announced in November, by Gilbert's Jack Entertainment to two casino-related firms: casino operator Penn National Gaming and a real estate investment trust VICI Properties. The all-cash deal is scheduled to close early Thursday morning, said Penn National Gaming CEO Timothy Wilmott, who attended the control board meeting. “This is the final step in the approval process," Wilmott said.
