Extended uk weather forecast

Another storm is forecast to hit the Bay Area. Here’s what to expect.

March 27, 2023 by www.sfgate.com Leave a Comment

Here we go again. A low-pressure system from the Gulf of Alaska is forecast to impact the San Francisco Bay Area from Monday through Wednesday, bringing more rain and wind to a region that was battered by a storm less than a week ago. This system is expected to reach peak intensity over the Pacific Ocean off the coast of the California-Oregon border before drifting south along the California coast and passing by the Bay Area. The storm is expected to bring less severe impacts to the region than the last area of low pressure that passed directly over San Francisco, said Rick Canepa, a forecaster with the National Weather Service. The National Weather Service expanded the Monday-Tuesday wind advisory to include the North Bay, East Bay and eastern Santa Clara hills in addition to the coastal areas. The advisory is in effect Monday night through Tuesday afternoon, with peak gusts expected to be up to 40 to 50 mph. Winds are expected to begin developing in the North Bay at … [Read more...] about Another storm is forecast to hit the Bay Area. Here’s what to expect.

Almost two-thirds of workers would prefer working a four-day week, a recent poll has found. A survey of 12,000 people, carried out by employment firm Hays found that nearly two in three workers would favour the switch to an office-based four-day week. One in three employers said they would be more likely to accommodate the switch if staff spent all four days on-site. Just under two in three workers said they would consider switching jobs if another company offered a shorter working week. This has increased from a little over 50% compared to a similar poll that was recorded last year. Almost two-thirds of workers would prefer working a four-day week, according to the study The findings follow a recent trial where 61 UK companies reduced their employees' working hours by 20 per cent , with no changes made to their salary. This trial saw around 2,900 employees work a four-day week for six months from June 2022. Surveys found that 39 per cent of staff felt less … [Read more...] about Nearly two-thirds of UK workers would prefer a four-day week from the office, survey of 12,000 UK staff reveals

HUMZA Yousaf has been elected as the next leader of the SNP after a fiery five-week contest. The Health Secretary saw off Finance Secretary Kate Forbes and former community safety minister Ash Regan in their bid to replace Nicola Sturgeon. Ms Sturgeon announced in February that she would resign after more than eight years in the job once her successor has been chosen. Mr Yousaf will become Scotland's youngest First Minister and also the first ever person from a minority ethnic background to hold the post. Responding to the news, Nicola Sturgeon said he will be an "outstanding leader" and "could not be prouder" to have him succeed her. In his victory speech, he said he was "honoured" to be entrusted by the SNP membership after winning the leadership election. He added: "It is hard for me to find the words to describe just how honoured I am to be entrusted by our membership of the SNP to be the party's next leader and to be on the cusp of being our country's next … [Read more...] about Humza Yousaf revealed as new SNP leader after fiery five-week contest

Davis’ Earlier Victims Say They’re Still Troubled

August 6, 2012 by www.sfgate.com Leave a Comment

Four women testified yesterday they still bear the psychological scars inflicted by the convicted killer of Polly Klaas, even though as much as 20 years have passed since he attacked them. The women told a San Jose jury they still sleep with the lights on, become frightened when approached on the street by strangers and have sought counseling. Prosecutor Greg Jacobs is trying to show the harm Richard Allen Davis has wrought in victims' lives during more than two decades of crime, reinforcing his argument that the 42-year-old convict deserves the death penalty. In another development yesterday, a juror reported to Superior Court Judge Thomas Hastings that she had inadvertently seen a photo of Davis giving an obscene gesture when the verdict was read. The juror said she was eating with friends the day after the June 18 verdict, when a man at the lunch counter opened a paper and she couldn't help but see the photo of Davis extending the middle finger of each hand.
