Ayesha Wilson-Bent, 36, was at home on July 26 when her son Gabriel Ashmore, 14, sent her a picture of his 12-year-old brother Kristian Ashmore beaming from inside a tower of tyres. As Kristian scrolled through photos that evening he spotted what he thought was a cobweb near his head in that image. So-called ‘Don’t Say Gay’ law confuses some Florida schools
This is a carousel. Use Next and Previous buttons to navigate 5 TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Some Florida schools have moved library books and debated changing textbooks in response to a law critics call “Don’t Say Gay” — and some teachers have worried that family pictures on their desks could get them in trouble. As students return from summer break, educators are cautiously adjusting and waiting to see how the new law governing lessons on gender and sexual orientation will be interpreted and enforced. The new law, championed by Florida’s GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis, bans lessons on sexual orientation and gender identity in kindergarten through third grade as well as material that is not deemed age-appropriate. Foiled release more a blessing than a setback for Eric Ejercito’s sophomore single
Eric Ejercito Just when Eric Ejercito was all set to drop his sophomore single, “Fool,” the COVID-19 pandemic happened. But while he had to postpone the release for almost three years, he doesn’t necessarily see it as a setback. With the P-pop scene steadily gaining ground, Eric, who draws musical and visual inspiration from Korean, Japanese and Western pop, feels that now is a better time to showcase his work. “I don’t think the delay was unfortunate. It’s actually a good time now because of the boom of P-pop in the local industry,” Eric said in a recent online press launch for “Fool” (Viva Records). “If I had released it then, the production would have been very different.” The eldest of actor-politician ER Ejercito’s six children, Eric first discovered K-pop after some people told him the way he looks or styles himself resembles the typical Korean idol aesthetic. Before long, he found himself “bitten by the (K-pop) bug.” “I’m heavily inspired by K-pop … But while there … [Read more...] about Foiled release more a blessing than a setback for Eric Ejercito’s sophomore single
Opinion: Root, root, root for the Rockies. Even if they hardly ever win.
“Let’s ride” is the battle cry of Denver’s latest quarterback hopeful, Russell Wilson (love him!!!). But before delving too deeply into the frenzied atmosphere of pro football, kick back some lazy afternoon in Coors Field at a Rockies game. Yes, the team has been mired at or near the bottom of the NL West and unless they start tearing up the bases, won’t make the playoffs for the fourth straight year. So what if the baseball gods haven’t smiled down and granted Colorado a winning season lately? The faithful know it’s not always about that. What it is about is letting yourself soak up as many tranquil and fun-filled moments as possible in a safe, outdoor space after being cooped up during that darn pandemic. It’s about coming together to enjoy a sport that’s a lot less raucous than testosterone-driven football, basketball, and hockey. No shade … just the truth. There’s nothing like watching Charlie Blackmon or Randal Grichuk swing for the fences and send one arcing over … [Read more...] about Opinion: Root, root, root for the Rockies.
