Manchester United will not be able to splash the cash in order to secure another forward during the final week of the January transfer window as they eye up a bargain deal. Erik ten Hag is happy with their business so far having brought in Wout Weghorst, but the uncertain futures of Anthony Elanga and Facundo Pellistri could create a gap in the squad. However, it has now been reported United are looking for a cheap deal in order to add to their forward options - with Harry Kane linked with a bumper summer move . READ MORE: Harry Kane 'heads Man Utd's three striker shortlist' for new star centre forward The Daily Mail report United are still on the lookout for a deal - as long as it's a loan deal that only includes a small fee. United currently have two players in on loan in Weghorst and Jack Butland, with a limit on two from domestic clubs and four from abroad. Facundo Pellistri and Anthony Elanga have both been linked with departing loan deals in order to … [Read more...] about Man Utd’s budget for final week of transfer window confirmed as they eye forward

Taliban warn women can’t take entry exams at universities
ISLAMABAD (AP) — The Taliban on Saturday doubled down on their ban on women's education, reinforcing in a message to private universities that Afghan women are barred from taking university entry exams, according to a spokesman. The note comes despite weeks of condemnation and lobbying by the international community for a reversal on measures restricting women's freedoms, including two back-to-back visits this month by several senior U.N. officials. It also bodes ill for hopes that the Taliban could take steps to reverse their edicts anytime soon. The Taliban barred women from private and public universities last month. The higher education minister in the Taliban-run government, Nida Mohammed Nadim, has maintained that the ban is necessary to prevent the mixing of genders in universities — and because he believes some subjects being taught violate Islamic principles. Work was underway to fix these issues and universities would reopen for women once they were resolved, he had … [Read more...] about Taliban warn women can’t take entry exams at universities
Carole Baskin visited lawyer of missing husband Don Lewis ‘looking for proof he’s alive’
Carole Baskin recently visited the lawyer of her assumed dead husband Don Lewis 'in search of proof he is alive and well in Costa Rica' - after her shocking claim. The Big Cat Rescue star, 61, sensationally said in a TV interview that there's a document which proves her spouse is very much alive, and now she appears to be looking for it. Multimillionaire Don was declared legally dead in 2002, that was five years after he disappeared without a trace in the summer of 1997. Despite being long-assumed dead, Carole maintains there is a "letter from Homeland Security" which proves her husband is "alive and well". FTX’s Sam Bankman-Fried, DOJ tussle over his communications
Federal prosecutors are trying to prohibit FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried from privately contacting current and former employees of the bankrupt cryptocurrency exchange to prevent potential witness tampering in a criminal case accusing him of bilking investors and customers. The request, made in a letter filed late Friday by U.S. Justice Department lawyers, prompted an indignant response from Bankman-Fried's lawyer, who accused prosecutors of twisting the facts to cast the FTX founder in a sinister light ahead of his trial scheduled later this year. The testy exchange prompted U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan in New York to issue a Saturday order that included admonishment for the opposing lawyers in the case to refrain from “pejorative characterizations" of each other's actions and motives. Bankman-Fried, 30, has been under confinement at his parents' home in Palo Alto, California, since pleading not guilty earlier this month to charges against him. He is accused of diverting … [Read more...] about FTX’s Sam Bankman-Fried, DOJ tussle over his communications
Erik Spoelstra addresses Heat going without Kyle Lowty in fourth quarter of past two games
What the Miami Heat have accomplished in the fourth quarter of their past two games has been particularly notable, with a season-high 37 fourth-quarter points in Friday night’s victory over the Orlando Magic and three nights earlier outscoring the Boston Celtics 23-13 in the fourth quarter of that win. What has been missing has been particularly noticeable, as well, with point guard Kyle Lowry appearing in neither of those final periods in the two home wins. Coach Erik Spoelstra said the decisions had nothing to do with the recent knee soreness that had limited the 36-year-old veteran. “The last game,” Spoelstra said of the victory over the Celtics, “the second unit really took over, and they deserved to play that out. I wouldn’t look into it more than that. Just what was it, three games ago? Sometimes there’s recency bias, right? He had all the big plays against New Orleans down the stretch.” Indeed, in last Sunday’s victory that opened what turned into the 3-0 homestand, … [Read more...] about Erik Spoelstra addresses Heat going without Kyle Lowty in fourth quarter of past two games

Hundreds of people sailed through my life during three decades at The Washington Post, but none matched the impact that Bob Andrews had on me. Bob died December 2, from Parkinson’s, silencing a man whom hundreds of others — from the jungles of Southeast Asia to the mountains of Afghanistan — could not. He was 85. From the moment he ambled up behind me two short years ago outside my gym in Washington’s west end, I sensed a force field around him. Here was a real spy, a highly decorated soldier who fought in wildernesses, jumped out of airplanes, wrote novels and military textbooks, sealed business deals, knew presidents and sheiks, advised former astronauts and rained horror down on bad guys. Clothes brand says Primark has gone ‘a step too far’ with new hoody logo
A Manchester-based clothing brand has called Primark out after noting alleged similarities between a logo used on a green Primark 'Explore Nature' kid's hoody and their own logo.
