San Diego State starting boundary safety Kyree Woods has a torn right ACL and will be sidelined for the remainder of the season, SDSU head coach Rocky Long said following Monday’s practice.Woods, a senior from Mesa, Ariz., suffered the injury while trying to make a tackle on special teams in the fourth quarter of SDSU’s 24-10 win at Colorado State. .Woods attended Monday’s practice wearing a knee brace that stretched from his thigh to his calf. He watched from the sidelines as his teammates prepared for Saturday night’s Mountain West home game against Wyoming.“Kyree was playing really, really well,” Long said. “We’re losing a great kid, who loves to play football and is a great player, but we’re basically losing two players ... Kings forwards Ariza, Giles to miss last 2 preseason games
Sacramento Kings forward Trevor Ariza will miss the final two preseason games after he had a procedure to remove a benign tumor from his back.The Kings said Ariza had the procedure Friday and would be re-evaluated after the preseason finale against Melbourne United on Wednesday.In addition, forward-center Harry Giles is sidelined by a sore left knee and also is likely to miss the last two preseason games. Patriots WR Josh Gordon leaves game after twisting knee
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — New England Patriots receiver Josh Gordon left Thursday night’s game against the New York Giants after twisting his knee awkwardly while trying to make a tackle. Gordon was trying to bring down Markus Golden just before the end zone after the Giants linebacker intercepted Tom Brady at the Patriots 42-yard line. Golden stretched with the ball to cross the goal line, and Gordon landed on his back with is left leg bent under him. He was checked out in the medical tent but did not return on New England’s next possession, its last before halftime. Gordon has 20 receptions for 287 yards and a touchdown so far this season. Kickoff was announced Monday and will be carried by ABC at 7:30 p.m. Michigan opened the season with a night game against Middle Tennessee State, winning 40-21, to go 5-0 in night games at Michigan Stadium. This will be the second and last night game of the season at Michigan Stadium.
