Chris McCosky The Detroit News Published 12:44 p.m. UTC Jul 15, 2018 Houston — Michael Fulmer typically is more diplomatic, but he could not contain his frustration Saturday, after he was knocked out of the game in the fifth inning in the Tigers' 9-1 loss to the Astros. "The guy was god-awful today," he said, speaking of home-plate umpire Pat Hoberg. "It was a bad day for him and for me." Fulmer's line was ugly — 4⅔ innings, 10 hits, seven runs, including back-to-back home runs by Josh Reddick and Evan Gattis that hastened his exit in the fifth inning. His frustration, though, which was palpable, was with Hoberg and his small and inconsistent strike zone. BOX SCORE: Astros 9, Tigers 1 "You can't give a team like the Astros extra strikes," he said. "And that's just what it boiled down to." Fulmer said after reviewing the video, he found 10 pitches inside the strike zone that Hoberg called balls. He threw just 33 balls in 88 pitches. Gods of soccer: Ronaldo, Messi like you’ve never seen them
Steve Douglas, Ap Sports Writer Updated 6:43 am, Friday, June 29, 2018 ST. PETERSBURG, Russia (AP) — Looking regal in his Russian uniform, Cristiano Ronaldo gazes out pensively with his arms folded and "CR7" embroidered near his left shoulder. Behind him is Lionel Messi, also snappily dressed and with the hairs of his moustache twirled up either side of his mouth. Luis Suarez, Mohamed Salah, Antoine Griezmann, Sergio Ramos — it's a gathering of soccer's most venerated players and coaches. Welcome to the "Like The Gods" exhibition at the Museum of the Russian Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg. The collection includes digitally made portraits of around 40 modern soccer superstars dressed in military and royal uniforms dating back to the 19th century, intertwined among sculptures of ancient gods, made about 200 years ago. "They just emphasize the main concept of this exhibition: modern heroes and ancient gods," says Anastasia Sergeeva, exhibition specialist at … [Read more...] about Gods of soccer: Ronaldo, Messi like you’ve never seen them
