Henry Payne The Detroit News Published 7:10 PM EST Jan 16, 2019 There is no truck market in the world like the U.S., and no one makes trucks like Detroit's Big Three. Mid- and full-size pickups sell nearly 3 million a year here, with the full-size Ford F-Series leading the way with some 900,000 sold. The perennial best-seller got some serious heat this year from competitors Ram 1500, Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra, which all introduced new steeds. The fast-growing midsize segment got more crowded as the Ford Ranger and Jeep Wrangler pickups elbowed in — but Toyota (which struggles to sell its Texas-made full-size pickup) still dominates midsizers as the Tacoma towed a 23 percent increase in sales. Yee-haw! Ram Heavy Duty 2500-3500 What it is: Ram follows its North American Truck of the Year award-winning 1500 with the 2500 and 3500 heavy-duty trucks. Awards season will be in full bloom in less than a week, beginning when the 2019 Golden Globes are broadcast this upcoming Sunday. The annual celebration of achievement in television and motion pictures often feels like the freewheeling cousin of the Academy Awards, offering a slightly off-the-cuff vibe typically unmatched by the more formal Oscars. Will an award winner belatedly accept a trophy because she was in the bathroom, like Renee Zellweger did in 2001? Will a star (or two or three) appear visibly intoxicated in the audience? Will any films with local ties bring home some hardware? The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), the organization behind the awards ceremony, hopes you’ll tune in to find out. Before you settle in for a slice of awards season magic on Sunday, here’s everything you need to know about the 2019 Golden Globes. What time are the 2019 Golden Globes? The 2019 Golden Globes will air on Sunday, Jan. 6 at 8 p.m. on NBC. The ceremony will be held … [Read more...] about The Bostonian’s 2019 Golden Globes viewing guide
