A NASA astronaut has shared warnings and top tips for holidaymakers heading into space . Two times Shuttle rider Bruce Melnick has spent 13 days in space, helping to launch the Ulysses probe to the Sun and banish a troublesome satellite from low-Earth orbit. The Florida native, who spoke to the Mirror while wearing his official NASA jacket, offered some words of wisdom for those planning an out-of-this-world trip during a visit to the UK. He did so two years after Jeff Bezos and William Shatner whizzed up and down again in a ten minute Blue Origin flight, a significant step in space tourism. With a space hotel set to be built in 2026 , the prospect of holidays around the galaxy are no longer simply the stuff of sci-fi films. But what could guests expect? ‘I asked my husband to help me with my car – he was livid as I woke him from a nap’
It can be really frustrating when something goes wrong with your car, and can leave you frustrated and flustered when you need to be somewhere soon. Some may turn to pals to help, others may call a mechanic, but a lucky few may have a partner who is an expert in all things vehicles. One woman took to Reddit's 'Am I the a**hole' forum to explain that her husband has 'experience in this area', so asked him to help her fix her car as it 'wasn't working'. He did, however, when she returned home he was 'livid' and 'sulking' because she'd woken him up. He wasn't happy with what she did - and people online defended him (Stock Image) ( Image: Getty Images/iStockphoto) She explained: "My husband was home at around 1pm, napping after covering a night shift (he works every other night). "I was supposed to attend a friend's engagement but my car wasn't working. Since he has experience in this area, I woke him up and asked if he could skip his nap to check my car. "He … [Read more...] about ‘I asked my husband to help me with my car – he was livid as I woke him from a nap’
This half-empty office tower could help transform downtown San Francisco
Marc Benioff is the rare tech mogul who appreciates hometown pride and physical space. The CEO and co-founder of Salesforce has donated $110 million to public schools in San Francisco and Oakland through the giant firm’s foundation. He led a successful 2018 ballot drive to combat homelessness by taxing corporations like his homegrown tech behemoth. Now I’d like to see Benioff explore ways to make San Francisco’s sagging Financial District into a robust mixed-use neighborhood — starting with Salesforce West, the 43-story office tower that Salesforce owns at 50 Fremont St., a half-empty monolith from early 1985 that could become a test lab for turning old towers into new strongholds of urban life. This may sound presumptuous, but Benioff hasn’t been shy in airing his concerns about the commercial heart of the city where he was born, and where his company occupies three towers at Fremont and Mission streets. “We’ve a very homogeneous downtown. You have to rebalance,” Benioff … [Read more...] about This half-empty office tower could help transform downtown San Francisco
