Greg Abbott ordered state troopers to inspect more trucks — again expanding a border security mission that has cost billions, given the National Guard arrest powers and bused migrants to Washington, D.C. What Abbott’s get-tough plans haven’t done in the year since he began rolling them out is curb the number of people crossing the border. Along the border in Texas, where officials say Monday’s fatal tractor-trailer journey began, U.S. authorities stopped migrants from crossing illegally 523,000 times between January and May, up from 417,000 over the same span a year ago. Watch the hilarious moment Andy Murray set point could have been replayed as ball boy gets caught up in celebrations
ANDY MURRAY’S winning set point at the end of the third set against John Isner could have been replayed - after the ball boy got CAUGHT up in the celebrations. The Brit nailed down a huge serve at 6-3 in the tie-break which Isner only managed to get a frame to. Look how much it means!! #BBCTennis #Wimbledon pic.twitter.com/b3Fo8P7HLS — BBC Sport (@BBCSport) June 29, 2022 That sent the ball flying high into the Wimbledon air. And as it was clearly not going to land back in court, Murray jumped, shouted and fist-pumped wildly as he got himself back into the second-round match. Isner started making his way to the chair before the ball eventually came down near the net. But the overly-eager ball kid next to the net post rose up and took a catch - and a good one at that - on the full, rather than letting it bounce out of play. Use Next and Previous buttons to navigate 12 DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — In a city boasting champagne brunches with views of the sea, Michelin star restaurants, and endless high-end Asian food options, a small hole-in-the-wall restaurant with plastic chairs and metal tables is one of Dubai’s go-to spots. Ravi restaurant, a small, family-owned Pakistani place, is rooted in the community of South Asian workers who helped build Dubai. Yet over the decades, it has become a staple of the food culture in a city that usually gravitates to everything glitzy and over-the-top. The restaurant opened its doors in the United Arab Emirates in 1978 in the Dubai neighborhood of Satwa, at a time when it was a sandy area full of big lorries and small construction shops. The emirate was mostly a desert land in the 1970s with a meager, low-built skyline overlooking the Gulf. Ravi … [Read more...] about Popular Pakistani restaurant stands test of time in Dubai
MMA stunner Arianny Celeste shows off incredible body as the octagon ring girl relaxes after UFC Fight Night
ARIANNY CELESTE is cutting back IN - but not ON - her exotic photoshoots. The octagon girl wore her most minimal swimsuit yet - unless you include the matching bandana - as she wound down after UFC Fight Night. The five-time Ring Girl of the Year, 36, posted the shots as she reclined in a chair after appearing at the huge MMA event in Austin, Texas. The prolific poster of swimwear pics mysteriously captioned her latest offering on Instagram as 'Cruel Summer'. But perhaps it was because temperatures in her native Las Vegas were soaring to more than 40 degrees while the model's new photos racked up more than 18,000 hits in 12 hours. Fans responded with praise such as 'Your top photo'... 'wow'... and 'stunning'. Britain’s Covid cases jump by a THIRD in a week: Up to one in 18 people are infected in worst-hit areas… so is YOUR area a hotspot?
Covid cases have jumped by a third in Britain over the past week, with as many as one in 20 people now infected in parts of the country worst hit by the resurgence. Office of National Statistics (ONS) analysts estimate nearly 2.3million people in the UK had the virus on June 24 — up from roughly 1.7million in the previous week. Hospital admissions have also trebled in the last month, piling pressure on an already overwhelmed NHS. Though only a fraction of patients are primarily ill with the disease. Left-leaning experts have already demanded a return of mask-wearing and urged Britons to meet outside because of the uptick, driven by Omicron sub-variants BA.4 and BA.5. Some NHS hospitals have already brought back their own rules on coverings. But Boris Johnson today insisted there were no plans to reintroduce curbs 'at the moment'. The Prime Minister did, however, leave the door open to future measures by refusing to definitively rule out the return of lockdowns. … [Read more...] about Britain’s Covid cases jump by a THIRD in a week: Up to one in 18 people are infected in worst-hit areas… so is YOUR area a hotspot?
Parkland jurors must manage trial stress on their own
By TERRY SPENCER FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) — The jurors chosen this past week to decide whether Florida school shooter Nikolas Cruz is executed will visit a bloodstained crime scene, view graphic photos and videos and listen to intense emotional testimony — an experience that they will have to manage entirely on their own. Throughout what is expected to be a monthslong penalty trial, Circuit Judge Elizabeth Scherer will order jurors not to talk to anyone about what they have seen, heard or thought. Not their spouse. Not their best friend. Not their clergy or therapist. Not even each other until deliberations begin. The order is not unusual; it is issued at all trials to ensure jurors’ opinions aren’t influenced by outsiders. Once the trial ends, the 12 jurors and 10 alternates can unload to others — but they won’t receive any assistance from the judicial system. As is the case in most of the United States, neither Florida nor Broward County courts provide juries with post-trial … [Read more...] about Parkland jurors must manage trial stress on their own
