LEEDS will be sweating over the fitness of star man Wilfried Gnonto. That's after the forward went off injured in Italy's Euro qualifier against Malta. Gnonto, 19, has developed into a key player for Leeds since his move from Zurich in September. The former Inter Milan academy star has chipped in with four goals this season. And his Lionel Messi-esque style has made Gnonto a smash hit with the Elland Road faithful. However, Leeds risk being without their talismanic teen for Saturday's trip to Premier League leaders Arsenal. States’ divisions on abortion widen after Roe overturned
This is a carousel. Use Next and Previous buttons to navigate 5 NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — A group of Tennessee Republicans began this year’s legislative session hoping to add narrow exceptions to one of the strictest abortion bans in the country, armed with the belief that most people — even in conservative Tennessee — reject extremes on the issue. Tennessee law requires doctors to prove in court that they were saving a woman’s life when they performed an abortion. Surely, the lawmakers thought, they could win concessions that would allow doctors to use their good faith judgment about when abortion is necessary to save a woman’s life. But after a key anti-abortion group stepped in, the lawmakers had to settle for a stricter legal standard that moves the needle very little. Like lawmakers in several GOP-led states who started the year thinking about moderating the nation’s toughest abortion laws, Tennessee's lawmakers found no appetite … [Read more...] about States’ divisions on abortion widen after Roe overturned

Bottle or can? Scientists finally settle the debate on which vessels keep BEER fresher for longer – with surprising results
For many of us, there's nothing like a crisp, cool pint to celebrate making it to the end of a long week. But this sacred ritual can quickly be ruined if, after you crack open the can or pop open the bottle, the beer inside tastes stale. Fortunately, scientists at Colorado State University are on the case, and have been researching what vessel is best at keeping the liquid inside fresh. They opened up bottles and cans of different ales every two weeks over a six month period, and tested their contents for the tasty compounds that remained. They found that amber ales, like Doom Bar and London Pride, retain their flavour for longer in a bottle than a can. However, for an Indian pale ale (IPA), like Brewdog Punk IPA, the vessel it is stored in does not make a difference to its freshness. TikTok Women’s Six Nations will see England try to put World Cup heartbreak behind them as Sarah Hunter bids farewell
RAF officer Amy Cokayne is hoping for an England Women’s TikTok Six Nation take-off - to help prove the Red Roses’ World Cup heartbreak has been consigned to history. Cokayne and the rest of Simon Middleton’s side face Scotland at Newcastle in their first outing since the devastating loss to New Zealand in November. It will be an emotional afternoon, with co-captain Sarah Hunter calling time on her career after 141 England appearances. But for the England hooker - whose full name of Amy Victoria Fiona Cokayne gives away her father’s love of Aston Villa - getting back on the pitch is the perfect way to focus on the future, not the past. Cokayne said: “We had a review camp after the World Cup , which involved no rugby, so that this is about a new group, a new focus and a new cycle for the next World Cup. “I was always going to do one more cycle because the opportunity of having a home World Cup coming up was something that would be pretty tough to miss.” … [Read more...] about TikTok Women’s Six Nations will see England try to put World Cup heartbreak behind them as Sarah Hunter bids farewell
Modern royalty: George, Charlotte and Louis tipped to head monarchy as a ‘collective’

More info Ten years ago today — March 26 — Queen Elizabeth II made history by changing the law to make the monarchy a more equal institution. In 2013, she gave royal assent to the Succession to the Crown Act, meaning both sons and daughters of any future British monarch would have an equal right to the throne. The late Queen herself was able to ascend the throne only because her father had two daughters and no sons. Had he a male heir, Elizabeth would have been skipped over in favour of her brother. Thanks to the Crown Act, this is no longer the case, particularly affecting the children of the Prince and Princess of Wales: Prince George , nine, … [Read more...] about Modern royalty: George, Charlotte and Louis tipped to head monarchy as a ‘collective’
Tesco announces huge changes to Clubcard scheme – and shoppers aren’t happy
Tesco Clubcard scheme is the perfect way for Brits to collect points on their food shop. Customers can get 1 point for every £1 spent in store to use on many things, including the cinema. But now the supermarket giant announced it is cutting the value of its Clubcard rewards scheme. READ MORE: Shoppers go wild for budget exfoliator that leaves skin 'nourished and softer than ever' From June 14, points will be worth twice their value when cashed in, rather than the three times they are now. The scheme enables shoppers to collect points for money spent at Tesco and exchange them for vouchers. Some shoppers reacted with disappointment after the announcement. Jason Murray said the perks offered by Tesco's Clubcard were the "only reason" he shopped there. He told the BBC : I don't quite think they understand how much of an attraction their Clubcard is to their customers. "The customer is key and in my opinion holds all the cards. "What I will lose via … [Read more...] about Tesco announces huge changes to Clubcard scheme – and shoppers aren’t happy

Why additional tier 1 contingent convertible bonds matter to banks
Apri Sya’bani (The Jakarta Post) PREMIUM Jakarta ● Mon, March 27, 2023 The role of Additional Tier 1 (AT1) contingent convertible bonds, also known as CoCos, in the regulatory framework of the banking sector are designed to serve as a shock absorber during times of economic distress and are required by banking regulators as part of the capital structure of banks. As a component of financial-sector reform implemented in the wake of the global financial crisis, banks have been required to maintain various levels of capital, divided into tiers, which function as shock absorbers during times of economic distress. Common equity tier 1 capital is at the very top, followed by AT1 capital, which typically consists of hybrid bonds. Beneath this is tier 2 capital, which includes subordinated debt. The use of CoCos and other loss-absorbing capital instruments helps to prevent government bailouts and increase banks' safety buffers. These bonds carry higher yields than … [Read more...] about Why additional tier 1 contingent convertible bonds matter to banks
