This post about what to pack on a flight with young children was created in collaboration with Admiral Travel Insurance. Travel insurance is something you should never travel without and I make sure I have an annual policy that covers the whole family! Travelling with toddlers and young children can be….let’s call it challenging! Today I’m sharing my tips on what to pack on a flight with young children to get your holiday off to the best start. I find flying with toddlers to be the most difficult age. Babies are fine because they’ll fall asleep eventually and give you a break. Over 3’s are fine too because they have the attention span to watch a film or play a game. But toddlers…well they’re a whole different ball game. I don’t want to put you off because travelling with young children is so much fun as they’re amazed and intrigued by everything. You just need to get through the flight so you can enjoy your holiday! Holiday with young children
This post about travelling with hand luggage was created in collaboration with Admiral Travel Insurance. Travel insurance is something you should never travel without no matter where you’re going! Two weeks away with just hand luggage sounds like a challenge but it’s more than possible if you follow these easy travel hacks! I always try to travel with just hand luggage as it saves a lot of time and money. I often book budget flights so it pains me to spend as much on luggage as I have on the actual ticket! I’ve also learned that I very rarely need as much as I think I’ll need and used to come home with piles of clothes I hadn’t even worn! I never wear those sky-high heels or that dress I bought on sale but have never found the opportunity to wear it (but I still used to pack it ‘just in case’!) Travelling with just hand luggage is all about removing the ‘just in case’ items, minimising, planning and learning how to pack … [Read more...] about Can you pack for a two week holiday with just hand luggage?
It is a truth universally acknowledged that a British family in possession of a bit of spare time and cash must be in want of a weekend break. But where should they go? Whether for a big group celebration or a mid-term escape en famille, the tens of thousands of choices are overwhelming. And what constitutes “the perfect cottage house for families”, anyhow? There are lots of thoughtfully designed properties on the higher end of the market that cater beautifully to groups with young children. On a hill overlooking the sea in St Mawes you’ll find the stunning Penolva, which sleeps eight and where you’ll find dressing up outfits in the children’s closets and myriad rockpools to explore. At The Freeth, in Herefordshire, there’s a giant playroom tucked away upstairs for children to have hours of fun. The Wow House Company offers plenty of piles, from baronial to bling, which would suit a big birthday or any other showy event. Location helps, certainly, … [Read more...] about Is this Britain’s best holiday cottage for families with young children?

Also imaginative, delightful and totally charming. I don’t know what I like most — the whimsical banisters that curl their way up the path, the enormous 16-foot-long giant’s footprints or the fact that, at long last, you can finally see the huge topiary dragon that has been there all along but couldn’t be seen because it was blocked by overgrown foliage. Finally, for the first time since the park opened in 1950, you can see the entrance from the street — a grand entrance for a grand place on Grand Avenue. Fairyland has been closed this week because management didn’t want to risk exposing kids to the smoke in the air from those terrible fires up north. But they think they’ll be able to open again by Friday. If you plan to go this weekend, call … [Read more...] about Snapp Shots: Holidays coming to Children’s Fairyland in Oakland
HOLIDAYS used to be so simple – two weeks on a sun lounger, with the toughest decision being which drink to choose or book to read. Then along come children and turn every idea you ever had about relaxing upside-down. Airports become a daunting assault course and meal times turn into a trial of strength — survived only by those with extremely high pain thresholds. The idea of a family holiday abroad is appealing in theory. But the reality can be exhaustingly different. Here is where the Tots To Travel Green Garden resort in Tenerife’s Playa de las Americas comes in — allowing you to enjoy quality family time by taking away the stress of travelling with your youngsters. The resort is beautifully thought out and clearly designed BY parents, FOR parents. After an early-morning flight with our daughter Romy, five, and six-month-old son George, my wife and I were feeling a little care-worn. But thankfully that feeling soon disappeared after a 15-minute journey from … [Read more...] about Take the stress out of travelling with the kids and head to Tenerife for your next summer hol
