I thought I’d try something new on the blog this week and share a chatty, bloggy style post that’s similar to my newsletter – but for anyone who’s inbox is already clogged up enough as it is to subscribe to yet another newsletter. I feel like every blogger and her dog has an amazing newsletter right now and I love them, I love them all but I haven hundreds of unread emails already and – to be totally honest – another email just stresses me out. Personally, I like to pop over to a blog in my own time and catch up when I’m ready so The Monday Edit is for anyone who, like me, just kinda hates emails. I started this blog like a journal, it was lots of me just chatting about where I’d been and what I’d enjoyed. I didn’t realise it at the time but I was writing these posts more for myself than anyone else. This was my way of processing everything that had happened that day, dealing with things that went wrong or holding onto the joy … [Read more...] about The Monday Edit: Filming with The Gadget Show and two exciting holidays!
Before I had kids I knew it was going to be tough. I remember telling my best friend I was pregnant as clear as it was yesterday. She has two kids so I was really excited to tell her but I was still in the very early stages. We were at a party – a very drunken party where everyone else was so drunk they hadn’t noticed my sobriety but she’d spotted it – and I took her aside to tell her the good news. She screamed then jumped up and down in the exact way we did about anything remotely exciting when we were 14 years old but then she burst into tears, hugged me and said, ‘This will be the best but hardest thing you do. But the BEST! But yea…the hardest.’ I snuck away from the party at around midnight feeling even happier about the little nugget growing inside me, but also feeling a little confused. I just didn’t understand how something could be so amazing but so hard. Surely the hardness would take the shine off the amazingness? Because, … [Read more...] about The hardest thing about being a parent (and why you need a holiday)
Winter sunshine. Ahhh, it’s like music to my ears. It’s always at this time of year when I start thinking, ‘I wish I’d booked a winter sun holiday! Why wasn’t I more organised back in October!?’ If you’re in the same boat, it’s not too late to book a winter sun holiday for this year! Or maybe you’re super organised and you’ve already got one on your agenda for next year. Or maybe that smug woman at work has just left for her winter sun holiday and the thought of her lazing on the beach and coming back all tanned and fabulous is killing you!? Make sure you’re that person next year! Before you start researching far flung places like Thailand or Barbados, I’d like to make the case for Tenerife as a winter sun holiday destination. I’ve visited Tenerife six times now and each time I visit I love the island a little bit more. I feel like Tenerife has a bad rep with British travellers. It’s known for being a … [Read more...] about 10 reasons to add Tenerife to your winter holiday bucket list
The busiest travel season of the year is upon us – so if you want to ensure a stress-free holiday, there are a few things you can plan ahead. Some are very very obvious – others not so much. Here are 5 things to ensure a stress-free holiday for your upcoming Summer trips, assuming you are not booking with a travel advisor, in which case, they will be taking care of all these for you (or so they should!). 1. Book your flights directly with the airline This may seem obvious, but it isn’t for many. Use Google Flights to check fares and, if the difference isn’t crazy, book your flights direct. Why? Because you will be a direct customer and the airline will be able to speak directly to you (and vice versa) in case you need to make any changes. As a rule of thumb, before departure, if you book with a third party, all dealings have to take place with such company, which may add complexity, namely when things go wrong. Also, many airlines for some bizarre reason do … [Read more...] about 5 things to ensure a stress-free holiday
