I’ve been on Tinder for 10 yrs. It’s given me the best and worst dates of my life. One couldn’t speak a word of English
THERE have been ten years of Tinder. A decade in which millions of people, including myself, have got a serious RSI from swiping right. When Tinder first appeared in 2012, I had the dubious privilege of being one of the first journalists to give this ‘crazy’ new way of dating a try. It seemed a weird novelty then to match with random people nearby, just using your phone. I optimistically wrote that this new dating app was a way to “find love from the palm of your hand”. I laugh now at how naïve I was. Or perhaps I should cry given that this week (a decade on) I’ve just joined Tinder again. Either way, in ten years since I first tried Tinder I’ve watched it irrevocably change the dating landscape. Perhaps the greatest sea-change Tinder led was removing the stigma from online dating, once synonymous with sad geeks and divorcees, and turning it into something cool. America just got a $100-a-month raise
New York (CNN Business) Next time you stop at a gas station, think of it as a $100-a-month tax cut. Or a maybe $100-a-month raise. The steady drop in gas prices over the last few months has turned into an unexpected form of economic stimulus, coming at a time when the Federal Reserve is trying to cool the economy and battle rising prices with higher interest rates . Since hitting a record of $5.02 a gallon on June 14, the national average price for regular gas is down $1.10, or 22%, to $3.92, according to AAA. That average has now fallen for 67 consecutive days. Since the typical US household uses about 90 gallons of gas a month, the $1.10 drop in prices equals a savings of $98.82. The impact of the extra cash could be a substantial boost to an economy that is showing signs of consumers pulling back on purchasing nonessential items, such as clothing, electronics and household goods. Sky slammed for billing mistake which could cost TV customers extra
SKY has been found to have breached Ofcom rules by not sending customers notifications they were approaching the end of their contract. Telecoms regulator Ofcom has investigated whether Sky had broken rules around telling its pay-TV customers they were coming to the end of their deal . It is feared that many customers are being stung by a so-called "loyalty penalty" and are overpaying on their bill . Ernest Doku, telecoms expert at Uswitch, said: “Households have plenty on their minds right now, and with millions of us getting pay-TV services from Sky - either alone or as part of a bundle - it’s vital providers give clear notice to consumers before their contract is due to expire." Rules were tightened up in 2020, and providers must now alert customers when they are coming to the end of their deal period either by text, letter or email. Customers should be alerted up to 40 days before their deal ends. read more in bills BILL HELP … [Read more...] about Sky slammed for billing mistake which could cost TV customers extra
