Jayson Abad will spend only six months in prison. He was sentenced to 18 months and four years’ probation, but 12 months of the jail term will be suspended after he finishes a corrective DUI course, reported Hawaii News Now. Azalia Park, 21, was struck by a car driven by Abad, now 23. She died from her injuries. Park’s family asked the judge for a maximum 10 year sentence, saying Abad destroyed the family. However, Abad’s defense lawyer said his client’s blood alcohol level was only slightly above the legal limit at 0.089 and did not contribute to the accident. As many a 100,000 members of the Public and Commercial Services union are walking out today and tomorrow in another long-running dispute, over pay, jobs and conditions. I learned pronunciation and grammar fine. But because German was such a hard language when it came to cases, vocabulary and colloquial usage, I had to learn daily for four years when I lived in Germany for a few months in a year. The point at which I felt I started using it properly was when I knew how to form a question. As a high school student, I went to a gifted school, in a small northern Vietnamese town where students were taught to compete in local and national competitions. They were taught to get admission with high scores in university entrance examinations. Two of my classmates got into university with near perfect scores and topped there. In essence, during my high school years, and by extension my entire grade school years, I learned to take tests, to answer questions, but never learned to ask questions.
