Edwin Jackson gets the start vs. Indians as A’s try to extend win streak to 6
By Steve Kroner Updated 12:41 pm, Saturday, June 30, 2018 Going for their sixth straight win, the A’s will send to the mound the man who started the first game of the win streak, Edwin Jackson, against Cleveland at the Coliseum on Saturday afternoon. Pitching for his major-league record-tying 13th team Monday, Jackson held Detroit to a run on six hits in six innings as Oakland prevailed 5-4. He struck out seven, didn’t issue a walk and threw 80 pitches. Jackson hadn’t pitched in the big leagues this season before Monday. If we get what we got out of him last time, we’ll be really happy with that.” … [Read more...] about Edwin Jackson gets the start vs. Indians as A’s try to extend win streak to 6
A’s keep momentum from road, beat Indians in homestand opener
By John Shea Updated 10:14 pm, Friday, June 29, 2018 The A’s brought some of their road mojo to the Coliseum on Friday night. Returning home from a whopper of a three-city trip and facing a first-place team and a strikeout-happy pitcher, the A’s had a mighty challenge on their hands. Paul Blackburn made sure the momentum from an 8-2 trip stayed in Oakland’s favor by pitching shutout ball into the seventh inning, and the A’s beat Cleveland 3-1 for their fifth straight victory before 14,823 who enthusiastically welcomed them back. Dating to the last two games of the previous homestand, Oakland has won 11 of 13. The A’s are 24-18 on the road because they hit far better away from the Coliseum, displaying gobs of power — 72 home runs compared with 37 at home. On the trip, they set a record by homering in their 27th straight road game. The good vibes carried over Friday as Jed Lowrie homered in the eighth inning, his 14th. For the most part, … [Read more...] about A’s keep momentum from road, beat Indians in homestand opener
