Josef Federman, Associated Press Updated 5:58 am PST, Friday, February 8, 2019 FILE - In this Jan. 29, 2019, file photo, retired Israeli military chief Benny Gantz reacts at the official launch of his election campaign for the April 2019 elections, in Tel Aviv. Gantz has burst onto the Israeli political scene as the great hope of the country’s shrinking “peace camp” with a message that is anything but dovish. By Steve Bulpett | [email protected] | Boston HeraldPUBLISHED: February 6, 2019 at 7:36 pm | UPDATED: February 7, 2019 at 4:38 am There is little to nothing that has changed for the Celtics in the past few days as the league counts down to Thursday’s 3 p.m. trade deadline. The word from other teams is the Celts’ counteroffers to any early discussions have been non-starters. But even that kind of move could be minor in nature because the Celtics are convinced they still are in the hunt for this season’s championship, although they harbor no illusions and know it will take … [Read more...] about Celtics’ counteroffers reportedly high as they wait out Anthony Davis drama
By Dan Gelston Associated Press Published 12:06 AM EST Feb 7, 2019 Philadelphia — Tobias Harris drove the lane, tossed up a runner and buried the winner in what turned out to be his final shot for the Los Angeles Clippers. His packed bags needed a new destination. Next stop, Philadelphia. The 26-year-old Harris is headed to the 76ers as part of a late-night deal that suddenly gives the team the best starting five in the Eastern Conference and stamped them as legitimate title contenders. Harris is ready for the move — he tweeted early Wednesday a GIF from the opening credits of the 1990s sitcom “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” showing Will Smith’s character playing basketball. The Sixers can only hope this trade turns into a story all about how the East got flipped-turned upside down. They paid a steep price for the free agent: Sensational rookie guard Landry Shamet and four draft picks are headed to the Clippers. Philadelphia traded forwards Wilson … [Read more...] about Ex-Piston Tobias Harris goes to 76ers
Vince Ellis Detroit Free Press Published 1:14 PM EST Jan 26, 2019 The week’s Detroit Pistons mailbag examines the pros and cons of engaging the Memphis Grizzlies in trade talks, the San Antonio Spurs’ reported interest in Stanley Johnson and a wild new TV series from Showtime. Mike Conley is the latest Pistons savior – if you listen to some fans. It was major news this week when ESPN.com reported the Grizzlies would listen to trade offers for franchise stalwarts Mike Conley and Marc Gasol. Pistons Twitter reacted, with users of the social media platform rushing the ESPN.com’s Trade Machine to decipher a scenario to bring star Blake Griffin some help before the Feb. 7 trade deadline. The focus is Conley with the gaping hole the Pistons currently have at point guard. The fan base is growing hostile toward incumbent point guard Reggie Jackson, whose untimely photobomb during a Griffin postgame interview this week set off ESPN’s talking heads. … [Read more...] about Should Detroit Pistons trade for Grizzlies PG Mike Conley?
