Eric Bell does nothing before 10 a.m. That’s not technically true, of course, but it is the sort of decisive, quirky thing you say when you’re the youthful CEO of a tech startup like Blue Duck Scooters, for which you will be remembered and quoted if you somehow make a fortune. For this home-grown San Antonio company, that’s one of the big questions. Will it make a lot of money? Will it make any money? If the answers rest partly on workplace style and entrepreneurial role models, Blue Duck is in position. When Bell, 35, blurts out, “Jeff does nothing before 10 a.m.,” he assumes you know he’s talking about Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon.
