opinion Paul Ruth Published 10:34 PM EDT Oct 23, 2018 Plenty has been said about the need for STEAM education and a skill trades workforce, but not enough put forward on how to get there. In many ways Michigan is poised to be a leader in developing the workers of a global 21st century economy. Michigan lacks on supporting the mechanisms needed for this to happen at the speed of innovation. Positive points like Early Middle College and the competency mindset of the Merit Curriculum allow the stage to be set, but for too long the secondary and post secondary options for students have been undercut. Michigan needs to draw itself from the market ideology of schools and focus on the structures for inter-district cooperation in a multitier professional learning community. In addition, the state should also continue to expand school to professional partnerships in both the high school and collegiate settings. Many positive efforts are being made, but are they being made in a way that … [Read more...] about Letter: Academic collaboration key for workforce

If Arlene Foster doesn't survive RHI, who would replace her as DUP leader? BelfastTelegraph.co.uk It's never good for a political party when, both inside and outside the support base, people are asking: "Do you think the leader will survive?" It has been an extraordinarily difficult 20 months for Arlene Foster; some of which is her own doing (mishandling the original response to the RHI story in December 2016, followed by an election in which, under her watch, unionists lost their overall majority in a local Assembly/Parliament for the first time), and some of which has flowed from the very public showdown between key Spads and officials at the RHI Inquiry (raising very important questions about where the real power in the DUP lies). https://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/opinion/news-analysis/if-arlene-foster-doesnt-survive-rhi-who-would-replace-her-as-dup-leader-37369750.html … [Read more...] about If Arlene Foster doesn’t survive RHI, who would replace her as DUP leader?

by Hoàng Sơn Nguyễn Văn Tú – Representative of Hồng Phát Technique-Trading-Service Company Limited – SME distributing office equipment Nguyễn Văn Tú This event, like previous ones, is a chance for me to connect with both local and foreign businesses and look at co-operating with them. I appreciate that the Government and the Việt Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) have organised events to link domestic firms together and create an environment for them to exchange ideas. My company has agreed to co-operate with some in Laos and Cambodia to sell and distribute office equipment, and we have been working with other domestic firms as well. In my opinion, the Việt Nam Business Summit (VBS) is a good chance for companies in different fields to co-operate. The theme, connection and innovation, has proved the world is trending toward Industry 4.0 and Việt Nam is no exception. Small- and … [Read more...] about Business leaders share views at WEF ASEAN
