March 26, 2023 by www.thesun.co.uk Leave a Comment

LEEDS will be sweating over the fitness of star man Wilfried Gnonto. That's after the forward went off injured in Italy's Euro qualifier against Malta. Gnonto, 19, has developed into a key player for Leeds since his move from Zurich in September. The former Inter Milan academy star has chipped in with four goals this season. And his Lionel Messi-esque style has made Gnonto a smash hit with the Elland Road faithful. However, Leeds risk being without their talismanic teen for Saturday's trip to Premier League leaders Arsenal. Jamie Chadwick hails Caitlyn Jenner for key role in US move after Indy NXT debut

March 7, 2023 by www.mirror.co.uk Leave a Comment

Jamie Chadwick credited former Olympic champion and reality TV star Caitlyn Jenner with a huge role in helping to launch her racing career in the US. Chadwick is competing in Indy NXT – a feeder series to IndyCar – this year. This latest career move comes after three consecutive titles in the all-female W Series, the third of which came as she competed for Jenner Racing. Jenner's involvement, it was hoped, would help to shine a light on the series. But the more telling effect it had was beneficial for Chadwick herself, who not only cemented her status as one of the top female single-seater racers around, but also helped her to catch the attention of those across the Atlantic. As a result, she landed a drive with Andretti Autosport in the Indy NXT series. She made her debut last weekend in St Petersburg, Florida, but didn't get the clean start she would have wanted – finishing 13th after being involved in two incidents on track. Appearing on the Fuelling Around podcast … [Read more...] about Jamie Chadwick hails Caitlyn Jenner for key role in US move after Indy NXT debut

Richard Keys warns Man City over ‘worst possible’ Thomas Tuchel appointment

March 25, 2023 by www.dailystar.co.uk Leave a Comment

Richard Keys has warned Manchester City that Thomas Tuchel's Bayern Munich appointment is the 'worst possible news' for their Champions League dreams. Tuchel, who won the competition against the odds during his time at Chelsea by defeating Pep Guardiola's Man City, has been picked to replace Julian Nagelsmann in the dugout as Bayern sit second in the Bundesliga. With a two-legged Champions League quarter-final against City on the horizon, Keys thinks Tuchel is the most likely of any manager to get the better of Guardiola over two legs. TikTok Women’s Six Nations will see England try to put World Cup heartbreak behind them as Sarah Hunter bids farewell

March 24, 2023 by www.thesun.co.uk Leave a Comment

RAF officer Amy Cokayne is hoping for an England Women’s TikTok Six Nation take-off - to help prove the Red Roses’ World Cup heartbreak has been consigned to history. Cokayne and the rest of Simon Middleton’s side face Scotland at Newcastle in their first outing since the devastating loss to New Zealand in November. It will be an emotional afternoon, with co-captain Sarah Hunter calling time on her career after 141 England appearances. But for the England hooker - whose full name of Amy Victoria Fiona Cokayne gives away her father’s love of Aston Villa - getting back on the pitch is the perfect way to focus on the future, not the past. Cokayne said: “We had a review camp after the World Cup , which involved no rugby, so that this is about a new group, a new focus and a new cycle for the next World Cup. “I was always going to do one more cycle because the opportunity of having a home World Cup coming up was something that would be pretty tough to miss.” … [Read more...] about TikTok Women’s Six Nations will see England try to put World Cup heartbreak behind them as Sarah Hunter bids farewell

Goals from Harry Kane and Bukayo Saka were enough to help England beat Ukraine in Euro 2024 qualifying on Sunday evening. The Three Lions continued their perfect start to their qualifying campaign as they secured a comfortable 2-0 victory at Wembley. Gareth Southgate's side were frustrated for much of the first half before Kane extended his lead as England's all-time leading scorer by breaking the deadlock. It proved to be a straightforward task for England once they took the lead, with Saka adding a second just minutes later. One of David Beckham's England team-mates tried to stop him taking his iconic free-kick winner against Greece in World Cup qualifying - because he skied earlier efforts. Teddy Sheringham has now admitted that he tried to take the ball away from his skipper in the dying seconds of the contest with England needing a point to secure their spot in the 2002 World Cup finals. More than 21 years later, the former Manchester United and Tottenham striker has explained what he said as Beckham lined up the ball - before it flew into the top corner. READ MORE: 'David Beckham was led by Gary Neville as England captain - Becks was quiet and shy' Appearing on talkSPORT , Sheringham said: "Becks had already had six free kicks that day. He'd hit row Z, the goalkeeper had saved it. I went over and said: 'Becks let me have it'. He said: 'you can't even reach from here go, get in the wall'. "I thought: 'yeah OK, you are a better free kick taker than me, you can have one more go'." … [Read more...] about David Beckham almost didn’t take iconic free-kick vs Greece as he’d ‘already had six’

More info Ten years ago today — March 26 — Queen Elizabeth II made history by changing the law to make the monarchy a more equal institution. In 2013, she gave royal assent to the Succession to the Crown Act, meaning both sons and daughters of any future British monarch would have an equal right to the throne. The late Queen herself was able to ascend the throne only because her father had two daughters and no sons. Had he a male heir, Elizabeth would have been skipped over in favour of her brother. Thanks to the Crown Act, this is no longer the case, particularly affecting the children of the Prince and Princess of Wales: Prince George , nine, … [Read more...] about Modern royalty: George, Charlotte and Louis tipped to head monarchy as a ‘collective’

close Video Iran sees itself as ‘the big dog’ in the Middle East: Lt. Gen. Jerry Boykin Former U.S. Deputy Undersecretary of Defense Lt. Gen. Jerry Boykin argues Biden's weakness has created a 'void' and leaves Iran militarily 'emboldened.' Amid the shocking revelation that the Iranian regime enriched near weapons-grade uranium for an atomic weapon, the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) on Friday published a highly detailed report to counter Tehran’s drive to become a nuclear power. The MEMRI report argues that powerful steps can be taken by the Biden administration and Europe to impede Iran’s atomic weapon ambitions short of military strikes targeting Iran’s nuclear facilities. MEMRI lays out a "Plan of Action" that aims to chip away at the legitimacy of the Islamic revolutionary state. The report comes at a historic moment in Iran’s history due to the revolts against the clerical regime sweeping the nation of 87 million … [Read more...] about How to stop Iran’s drive to obtain nuclear weapons short of bombing it: report
