The BT -owned provider says that most bogus contact comes from international locations posing to be from UK-based numbers for legitimacy. They are often run by massive international scam networks, trying to trick innocent victims into giving out personal information, access to devices and even bank details. Since launching upgraded detection tech in July, 11million scam calls have been blocked from reaching EE , BT and Plusnet customers. Freed hostages were able to give British police key information identifying an IS kidnap gang nicknamed "The Beatles" which had held and tortured them, Scotland Yard has revealed. Officers have disclosed key breakthroughs that allowed them to identify the jihadis and bring two of them to trial in the US . It included vital details from freed hostages that helped police identify the men on a march with a group linked to the radical group al-Muhajiroun, as well as the use of voice recognition software. The group were nicknamed "The Beatles" by their hostages because of their British accents. Aerial video taken by WCVB-TV showed much of the boatyard in Mattapoisett engulfed in flames Friday afternoon, destroying a number of boats, vehicles and buildings. Firefighters from around the region, including from as far away as Providence, Rhode Island about 30 miles away, responded to the blaze. When Tinder first appeared in 2012, I had the dubious privilege of being one of the first journalists to give this ‘crazy’ new way of dating a try. It seemed a weird novelty then to match with random people nearby, just using your phone. I optimistically wrote that this new dating app was a way to “find love from the palm of your hand”. I laugh now at how naïve I was. Or perhaps I should cry given that this week (a decade on) I’ve just joined Tinder again. Either way, in ten years since I first tried Tinder I’ve watched it irrevocably change the dating landscape.
