A Danish City Makes You Feel Like a Member of the Club Advertisement Supported by The 52 Places Traveler Aalborg has replaced faded factories with a high-design waterfront, but the 52 Places Traveler sought out its old-school spots. BySebastian Modak May 28, 2019 Our columnist, Sebastian Modak, is visiting each destination on our 52 Places to Go in 2019 list. He enjoyed some alone time in the Tatra Mountains in Slovakia before arriving in Aalborg, Denmark. On one of my last days in Aalborg, Denmark’s fourth-largest city, I walked with some trepidation toward the old building that houses Christian IV’s Guild, a fraternal order that was formed in 1942 as a place for Danes to drink without interference from Nazi occupiers. Now, with more than 8,000 members from all over the … [Read more...] about Skal! A Danish City Makes You Feel Like a Member of the Club
I have a little confession to make, I'm not really a camper. Years of camping with my family as a child with blow up airbeds going flat by the morning, the wind blowing away our tent, peeing in a bucket in the night as the toilet block was too far away, and all those camping japes put me off camping as an adult. Of course, camping has come a long way since the 1970s and in today's age, glamping or luxury camping, is all the norm but I would be wrong in saying I didn't have a little trepidation when I ventured to Dorset with Mr W for our stay at Caalm Camp. I needn't have worried. Caalm Camp is a luxury glamping site, with 6 Mongolian yurts instead of tents. Run by Mark and Caryl Ralph, this site used to be a dairy farm until a few years ago and is situated in Shaftsbury in Dorset. For the purpose of this review, they hosted us on a complimentary basis. The Yurt We arrived after a two and a half hour drive from South Wales to be greeted by the owner Mark, who showed us to our … [Read more...] about Glamping In A Mongolian Yurt With Caalm Camp Dorset

By JON MOOALLEM photo illustration by: DAVID BENJAMIN SHERRY The whale sighting happened right away, minutes into Day 1. Jon, Dave and I had just been dropped off on a remote Alaskan shoreline, an hour and a half by boat from the closest speck of a town. Jon was working as a sea-kayaking guide that summer in Glacier Bay National Park, and he had invited us up for a seven-day excursion during his week off. As the boat that delivered us vanished, the drone of its … [Read more...] about It Was Just a Kayaking Trip. Until It Upended Our Lives.
According to Twitter, Tom Ford called Melania Trump a “glorified escort.” The only problem? He never said it.The comment in question attributed to the designer is over his supposed refusal to dress the first lady. “I have no interest in dressing a glorified escort who steals speeches and has bad taste in men,” Ford is quoted as saying. However, there is no attribution to where the supposed remark came from and a quick search won’t pull up any interview where Ford said those words. (Yahoo Lifestyle reached out to a rep for Ford for comment, but did not immediately receive a response.)Still, Trump supporters quickly called for the Los Angeles based designer to be canceled.BEING MEAN SPIRITED IS NOT A GOOD LOOK. I AM RETURNING MY TOM FORD PRODUCTS. THANKS. BYE FELICIA.— DrZoeGrey (@drzoegrey) March 19, 2019Hey Tom Ford, you have the gall to talk down on Melania Trump? Seriously? Your husband is 71 years old.
