A Mexican illegal immigrant who entered the U.S. earlier this year has been convicted of being in possession of child pornography -- including images involving victims as young as three. Christian Dolores Munoz-De La Rosa, a 24-year-old Mexican national pleaded guilty to transporting and possessing child pornography, the Justice Department announced. Munoz-De La Rosa admitted to entering the U.S. on June 6 as part of a group of illegal immigrants near Carrizo Springs, Texas. When he was picked up, authorities examined his phones and discovered the illegal images. The shocking haul consisted of 116 images of children, some involving children as young as three-years-old. WITH monkeypox cases continuing to spread, many are wondering if – like with other viruses – it's possible to pick up the infection from touching contaminated objects or surfaces. The Center for Disease Control in the US, has said you can catch monkeypox by touching an object which has come into contact with an infected person. However, experts have said risk of transmission through surfaces is very low. Jonathan Ball, professor of medical virology, told The Sun that monkeypox needs "close contact" to spread. The scientist, from Nottingham University, said that the virus "usually" spreads through direct contact with another person. "It can also spread through contact with objects that have been close to someone infected for a long time such as clothing and bedding," Prof Ball explained.
