Kiss’ second farewell tour will make its first stop at Target Center in March
Costumed ’70s rockers Kiss will play the Target Center on March 4, a stop on what the band is calling their final tour. Tickets are priced from $1,003 to $32.50 and go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday through Axs. Citi cardholders have access to a presale starting at noon Wednesday. With a mix of glam rock and heavy metal and a cartoonish appearance, Kiss turned heads from the start. But the band built a following thanks to their high-energy, flashy concerts and such songs as “Strutter,” “Detroit Rock City,” “Hard Luck Woman,” “Beth” and “Rock and Roll All Nite.” In 1983, after the departure of guitarist Ace Frehley and drummer Peter Criss, the band dropped the facepaint and went on to find more modest success in the ’80s pop metal scene. Who is Hairball, and why are they headlining Saturday at the State Fair Grandstand?
At first glance, this season’s Minnesota State Fair Grandstand lineup looked a bit underwhelming and lacking any real big names. But the biggest head scratcher for a lot of folks is happening Saturday night when Hairball headlines the Great Minnesota Get-Together. What’s going on here? Well, it didn’t help matters that two State Fair mainstays — Journey and Def Leppard — teamed up for their own joint tour and hit Target Field in July. But the main culprits here are Mystic Lake Casino and Treasure Island Casino. The two venues have started hosting outdoor shows in recent years, but this summer they got aggressive about it and booked a whopping 15 concerts between them. And now that Treasure Island has built a permanent amphitheater, with more than 9,400 fixed seats and room for almost 7,000 more fans on the general admission lawn, it’s not a trend that seems likely to end anytime soon. It makes sense for casinos to book big summertime gigs. … [Read more...] about Who is Hairball, and why are they headlining Saturday at the State Fair Grandstand?
