A "cruel" mum failed to get medical help for her seven-week-old baby who was "not well" days before he died, a court heard. Kayleigh Clarke and her partner Michael Higginson did not call for help when little Ronnie got sick at their home in Stoke-on-Trent. When the alarm was raised it was too late as paramedics found Ronnie in cardiac arrest at the property on Derwent Street, in Cobridge, at 8.55pm on Tuesday, November 26, 2019. He died in hospital less than 30 minutes later, reports Stoke-on-Trent Live . Both defendants denied a charge of child cruelty by neglect, but they were convicted by a jury after a trial at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court last October. Now Clarke has been jailed for 27 months and Higginson has been sentenced to 15 months in prison, suspended for two years. The sentence includes a six-month alcohol treatment requirement and a 30-day rehabilitation activity requirement. Beethoven may have drunk himself to death, say scientists who mapped his genome from a lock of the great composer’s hair. Researchers discovered the musical genius was predisposed to liver disease and infected with Hepatitis B. Cambridge University scientists say those two factors combined with a love of wine might have been the fatal combination. Ten months later, Nashville police officers arrested three teenagers suspected in a series of shootings and discovered a cache of weapons in a nearby apartment. Among them was AFDN559. Forensic analysts would later tie the Glock to three shootings, including an attack in August that wounded four youths and another that wounded a 17-year-old girl in September. In a country awash with guns, with more firearms than people, the parked car — or in many cases, the parked pickup truck — has become a new flashpoint in the debates over how and whether to regulate gun safety.
