Candice Choi Associated Press Published 1:33 PM EDT May 30, 2019 New York – In California, Heather Del Castillo offered tips on natural eating as a health coach. But in Florida, the title didn’t qualify her to give nutrition advice. After getting a complaint that she was working without a license, Florida officials sent a cease-and-desist order and fined her $750. Del Castillo sued, saying her free speech rights were violated. Now, a federal court is expected to rule on her lawsuit as other states weigh regulations on professional dietary advice. The case highlights the confusion around dietitians and health coaches, and how their qualifications differ. “I literally didn’t even know I was doing anything that was wrong,” said Del Castillo, who noted her business was legal when she was living in California. Health coaches like Del Castillo can get certificates from a variety of programs, but the title doesn’t have a consistent meaning and anyone … [Read more...] about Who gets to give dietary advice? Since getting married, Kate Middleton has reportedly (gently) teased Prince William about his hair or lack thereof. But understandably, not all men are as good of sports on the subject as the Duke of Cambridge. According to a new survey done by Keeps, a men's health company dedicated to the prevention and treatment of male hair loss, many men don't take hair loss lightly. 11 PHOTOS Prince William sports new hairstyle See Gallery Prince William sports new hairstyle LONDON, ENGLAND - JANUARY 18: Prince William, Duke of Cambridge speaks with military veterans now working for the NHS as he visits Evelina London Children's Hospital to launch a nationwide programme to help veterans find work in the NHS on January 18, 2018 in London, England. Note: This essay contains discussions and images that may be triggering for some readers. In support of the recent National Eating Disorders Awareness Week, I’m coming out about my history with disordered eating, which I’ve never publicly discussed before.I’d thought about sharing my story a few times in the past. Once I was asked to write an article for The Wall Street Journal on beauty and body-shaming. Initially I toyed with calling the piece “I Threw Up Three Minutes Before I Wrote This” and opening up about life in the trenches of bulimia, but ultimately I decided against it. It felt too vulnerable to talk about something I was struggling with (not to mention that I had recently written an article about my mom’s battle with cancer and I was self-conscious about coming across as one big cry for help).RELATED: See the star over the years 70 PHOTOS Child star Jennette McCurdy over the years See Gallery Child star Jennette McCurdy over … [Read more...] about Former Nickelodeon star Jennette McCurdy opens up about her eating disorder
ASTON, Pa. — The day she covered every mirror in her new apartment because she could not stand the sight of herself anymore was a red flag. But no one was around to register it. And Gracie Gold, a figure skater once on the cusp of Olympic stardom, was in no shape to help herself. Holed up in a Detroit suburb, she kept her lights off so often, she said, that the electric bill one month was less than $20. She slept as much as 24 hours at a time, then stayed awake for three nights straight. A good day was when she managed to brush her teeth and her hair. Her dream of an Olympic gold medal? That had evaporated long ago, during her slow boil of a meltdown that she was struggling to keep a lid on. In 2014, Gold was a charismatic teenage prodigy, hailed as an athletic Grace Kelly because of her tight blond bun, bright red lipstick and regal bearing, her personality so sparkling it sometimes blinded people to the fact that she had not won an individual Olympic medal. Three years later, … [Read more...] about Gracie Gold’s battle for Olympic glory ended in a fight to save herself
