NBC might unveil an online TV service in 2019

Steve Burke, head of the Comcast Corp. division, suggested that the company might unveil an online TV service in 2019 – though it’s hard to know how seriously to take a message written in the rhyming style of Dr. Seuss. “While you all go off to relax, swim or ski,” Burke wrote. “Maybe, just maybe, next year we will announce our plan for OTT.” The initials are a reference to “over-the-top” services that provide video content to customers via the internet rather than a traditional satellite or cable TV subscription. ‘The Happy Hour’ axed by NBC Sports Bay Area

The program, regularly anchored by Kelli Johnson, Greg Papa and Ray Ratto, will conclude its run with a final airing on Dec. 21. Here’s a statement released this evening by the cable sports network: “We are constantly assessing all network programming in order to best serve Bay Area and Sacramento fans. Kathie Lee Gifford to leave NBC’s ‘Today’ show in April
Mark Kennedy Associated Press Published 10:34 AM EST Dec 11, 2018 New York – Kathie Lee Gifford will be putting aside her morning glass of wine and will step away from the NBC’s “Today” show in April. NBC News chief Noah Oppenheim told staffers Tuesday morning that Gifford will leave after 11 years on the show, most recently hosting the 10 a.m. hour alongside Hoda Kotb and sipping plenty of reds. In a memo to staff, Oppenheim called the 65-year-old Gifford “one of the most enduring and endearing talents in morning television. In short – she is a legend.” He said she will focus on her film, music and book projects.
