Or at least they ought to. “Prices are trending lower than we have ever seen before,” said SeatGeek.com’s Chris Leyden, painting for Yahoo Sports a supply-and-demand dystopia where ticket prices for Monday’s College Football Playoff National Championship Game at Levi’s Stadium are tanking. StubHub, also talking to Yahoo, expects tickets to go for as little as $150. The last time championship game tickets were that cheap, there wasn’t a championship game. Last year, peak tickets went for $1,700. It appears somebody is going to take a bath. But something even bigger might be afoot: Are the sluggish ticket sales a referendum on the college football industry — at least at the top of the pyramid? We’ll leave that an open question as we plumb a short list … [Read more...] about Five factors that may be driving down interest, ticket prices in advance of NCAA football title game

Audriana Fitzmorris had 14 kills and Morgan Hentz had 32 digs for Stanford, which won 28-26, 22-25, 25-16, 15-25, 15-12 despite hitting only .250 against a Huskers team that pushed hard for a second consecutive title. Ferris State football coach on loss in title game: ‘My fault’
Tommy Cummings Special to the Detroit Free Press Published 10:24 PM EST Dec 15, 2018 McKINNEY, Texas – Ferris State's hopes for taking the Division II national championship game into overtime came down to a dramatic two-point conversion attempt Saturday night. The Blazers had just scored to pull to 49-47 with 40 seconds left and seemed to have seized momentum over high-scoring Valdosta (Ga.) State. Ferris State called a garden-variety double-reverse pass. Quarterback Jayru Campbell took the snap, pitched to Sy Barnett, who lobbed to Jevon Shaw sweeping right. Campbell, who moved to the right flat, was covered, so Shaw followed through with a throw to Keyondre Craig in the back of the end zone. Craig stretched past Valdosta State defensive backs Stephen Denmark and Ravarius Rivers, but the pass was just out of his reach. Valdosta State (14-0) recovered the onside kick and went into the victory formation to preserve its fourth national championship. But Valdosta got a fight … [Read more...] about Ferris State football coach on loss in title game: ‘My fault’
