Brash Brewing reopening delayed because taproom was never permitted
After the owners of Equal Parts Brewing bought Brash Brewing in mid-June, they were excited to start their own chapter of the cult-favorite brewery. About a month later came a curveball: The City of Houston said the taproom couldn't reopen because it had never been properly permitted in the first place. In some of the biggest Houston beer news amid a busy year , Matt Peterson and Nick Sorenson, who own Equal Parts in the East End, partnered with Brash's founding head brewer Vince Mandeville to take over the Independence Heights brewery. Peterson says they knew requesting a permit transfer would trigger an inspection, … [Read more...] about Brash Brewing reopening delayed because taproom was never permitted

Streamers Hike Prices: How the Big Players Stack Up Now
Click here to read the full article. Streaming service subscription rates are rising as companies look to offset ballooning content expenditures and roll out lower-priced, ad-supported options as an alternative. Last week, Disney became the third entertainment giant to raise its rates this year, following Netflix in January and Amazon, which offers Prime Video as part of its broader e-commerce offerings, a month later. Hulu’s new rate goes into effect next month, while the cost of Disney+’s base ad-free plan will increase 38% in December. In England, Ukrainian Recruits Are Training for Frontline Battles
KENT, England — Ukrainian recruits waged a mock battle directed by British commanders on Monday in southeast England at a training village designed to resemble the scenes of battle unfolding on the front lines of Ukraine more than a thousand miles away. A British commander, flanked by a Ukrainian interpreter, shouted orders. Ukrainian conscripts, in camouflage fatigues, traversed a street strewn with grenade canisters, burning debris and overturned cars. A “wounded” man was brought out on a stretcher, moaning. At the village in Kent, the battles were pretend, but for these soldiers, real ones were probably only weeks away. “This training in urban areas is exactly what we need,” said Nick, a 25-year-old trainee who offered only a nickname for fear of Russian retaliation. He was taking part in an ambitious British-led program to provide military training to 10,000 Ukrainian Army recruits and staff, an effort that aims to help bolster local resistance to the Russian … [Read more...] about In England, Ukrainian Recruits Are Training for Frontline Battles
Facebook and Instagram Remove Robert Kennedy Jr.’s Nonprofit for Misinformation
Facebook and Instagram on Thursday removed the accounts of Children’s Health Defense, an organization led by Robert F. Kennedy Jr. that is one of the largest U.S. anti-vaccine groups, for spreading medical misinformation. In an emailed newsletter, Children’s Health Defense said Facebook and Instagram had taken down its accounts after a 30-day ban by the social networks. The nonprofit, which Mr. Kennedy has run since 2018, accused the apps of censorship. “Removing CHD accounts is evidence of a clearly orchestrated attempt to stop the impact we have during a time of heightened criticism of our public health institutions,” the group said. In a statement, Mr. Kennedy said, “Facebook is acting here as a surrogate for the Federal government’s crusade to silence all criticism of draconian government policies.” Children’s Health Defense is widely regarded as a symbol of the vaccine resistance movement. Last year, the organization was named one of the “Disinformation … [Read more...] about Facebook and Instagram Remove Robert Kennedy Jr.’s Nonprofit for Misinformation
