Sheringham Railway Station remains shut while a new platform is installed. Picture: Ian Burt Sheringham Railway Station remains shut so a new platform can be installed. Greater Anglia has closed the station until Sunday, May 5 for the £1m+ project, which will see a new 80 metre platform put in to accommodate the next generation of trains, which are arriving this year.The new platform will be twice the length of the current 40-metre structure, allowing the longer, three or four-carriage 'bi-mode' trains to fit in there.During the closure, Bittern Line services from Norwich to Sheringham are terminating at Cromer. Picture: ANTONY KELLY Archant Norfolk 2018 Volunteers are needed to help run the North Norfolk Railway (NNR), specifically on its popular dining trains and gardens. The dining trains are almost entirely staffed by volunteers who act as stewards and kitchen assistants on the railway’s series of popular evening, lunchtime, murder mystery, mainline and Christmas dining experiences.
