The Patriots’ 2019 NFL schedule was released Wednesday during the Celtics and Bruins‘ playoff games and while the Red Sox blew a lead to the Yankees. Bill Belichick and Tom Brady open their Super Bowl LIII title defense on Sept. 8 against the Steelers, and the schedule features high-profile games against the Browns and Chiefs throughout the season. Here is what five experts across the NFL are saying about the Patriots’ 2019 slate of games: Mike Reiss, ESPN.com: Patriots predicted record: 11-5 Reiss noted that this is the fourth consecutive season the Patriots’ bye week comes in a “great spot.” Last season, their bye week was after 10 games; in 2016 and 2017, after eight games. The Patriots’ bye week in 2019 is scheduled for Week 10, in between road games against the Ravens and Eagles in November, coming close to splitting the season evenly in half for the team. A notable moment on the schedule: The Patriots visit the Dolphins in Miami in Week … [Read more...] about What experts are saying about the Patriots’ 2019 schedule
Patriots packers win loss record
If the New England Patriots are able to handle the New York Jets Sunday afternoon at Gillette Stadium — and they will — they’ll officially secure the No. 2 seed in the AFC’s playoff picture and a first-round bye. But based on how the cards have fallen for this team recently, it probably makes more sense to expect them to nab the top seed. Despite back-to-back losses to the Dolphins and Steelers that figured to handicap their playoff positioning, the Chiefs, Texans, and Chargers have done everything in their powers to provide the Patriots the easiest path to the Super Bowl in Atlanta. So, Sunday’s slate of games should not only include a Patriots victory, but also a combination of the following: The Chiefs somehow lose to the lowly Oakland (rest in peace) Raiders at home. The Broncos handle the San Diego (I don’t care) Chargers at Mile High. There also are scenarios where the Pats can fall to the third or fourth seed as well, but fantasies are better … [Read more...] about What experts are predicting for Sunday’s Patriots-Jets game
Associated Press Published 10:03 PM EST Nov 16, 2018 Green Bay, Wis. — Mike McCarthy knows his job is on the line. The Green Bay Packers’ 13th-year head coach acknowledged he is aware that the team’s 4-5-1 record has led to questions about his future. But he insisted he and the team are focused on next week’s pivotal NFC North matchup with the Vikings in Minnesota, and not the uncertainty surrounding his job security. “That’s the job. That’s the way this business has gone,” McCarthy said Friday. “We set a standard here the past 12 years, and it’s our responsibility to play to that standard. That’s the way we approach it.” The 27-24 loss in Seattle on Thursday left the Packers 0-5 on the road and third in the division behind the Chicago Bears (6-3) and the Vikings (5-3-1). A seemingly softer portion of the schedule follows next week’s showdown with Minnesota, but a loss in that game could put the Packers … [Read more...] about Friday’s NFL: McCarthy feeling heat after Packers’ defeat
Thirty-four thoughts on the Titans’ 34-10 win over the Patriots Sunday: 1. The record shows that Brian Hoyer came in to relieve Tom Brady at quarterback with 7 minutes, 6 seconds remaining in the Patriots’ matchup with the Tennessee Titans. If a prescient someone had told you before the game that that would happen, I imagine there would be two immediate reactions: 1) The Patriots, winners of six straight, must have smoked the 4-4 Titans; 2) Bill Belichick must have finally and thankfully changed his philosophy on pulling Brady with a big lead when the game wasn’t yet mathematically clinched. 2. Yeah, not quite how it went. Mike Vrabel’s Titans clobbered the Patriots from the get-go, returning the opening kickoff 58 yards, taking a 17-3 lead in the first quarter, pummeling Brady at will throughout, and leaving absolutely no room for suspense in a 34-10 victory. The Patriots are now 7-3 — but 2-3 on the road — and head into their bye week hobbling and … [Read more...] about 34 thoughts on the Titans’ 34-10 win over the Patriots
Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski has been experiencing an extended stay on the injury report — a concerning detail in his puzzling start to the 2018 season. Though he has experienced flashes of success, Gronkowski has been limited to just one touchdown this season and has missed two games due to ankle and back woes. With rumors of retirement and unrest still lingering from last season, many are left wondering if things are copacetic with the four-time first-team All-Pro selection. Here’s what we know about the situation: A timeline of Gronkowski’s status: Gronkowski first popped up on the injury report in Week 3, two days before the Patriots’ matchup against the Detroit Lions. He was limited in one practice with an ankle injury but returned to full participation the following day and was removed from the injury report. Against the Lions, Gronkowski was on the field for 100 percent of New England’s offensive snaps; he caught four passes on five targets for … [Read more...] about What’s going on with Rob Gronkowski?
