The Raspberry Financier with gooseberry jam and shredded coconut was a masterpiece of plant based baking and the Raw Lemon Cheesecake was creamy with an intense lemon sourness. A White Chocolate and Pistachio cookie with sweet white chocolate, a hint of salt and a sprinkle of freeze dried raspberries was moist, chewy and crunchy in perfect unison. And finally, a Strawberry Tartlet that was a light and sweet creation kind of like a strawberry filled cloud in a short pastry casing. Hotel Review: Kimpton Fitzroy In London
Service & FacilitiesFrom the first welcome, through the friendly and helpful check-in team, to the concierge desk (where they don’t hide behind the desk but instead come and find anyone looking remotely lost to provide actual help) to the many kind people who served us food and drink; we found the service here to be exemplary. Nothing is too much trouble and they seem rather delighted that you are there! You perhaps get a hint of this when you realise they welcome children and pets (rare in central London hotels). Everything is about you, the guest, and your experience. The staff all seem to enjoy working here and their enthusiasm is infectious. … [Read more...] about Hotel Review: Kimpton Fitzroy In London
Vegan Junk Food and Recent Vegan Eats
Forky’s (Prague, Czechia) As far as European capitals go, Prague wasn’t one of the best for vegan options in my opinion. Alas, when holidaying here recently, we found a little gem called Forky’s. Forky’s is entirely vegan and has a massive array of different types of food to try. As always, I tried the burger. It was my first time trying the “Beyond Burger”- a pea based protein burger funded by the likes of Bill Gates and Leonardo DiCaprio (it did not disappoint). I also tried the “No-fish and chips”, tofu fried with nori (seaweed sheets) to give that fishy flavour. … [Read more...] about Vegan Junk Food and Recent Vegan Eats
Lux Hotel Review: Belmond La Residencia, Mallorca
My love for Mallorca is very well documented in this blog. It is an island I have visited over 20 times (I kid you not) and I try to make a special effort to return every year. Why? Because I still feel I haven’t scratched its surface – there is always something more to see or do (or not do at all) in the largest of Spain’s Balearic Islands. The hotel is very well known, as it was previously owned by Richard Branson. It is located in Deia, in the north-west coast of Mallorca (around 45 mins from Palma de Mallorca, the island’s capital). This little town is very special as it is a UNESCO World Heritage village, at the heart of the Tramuntana mountain range. As you can probably gather, the setting is quite spectacular. … [Read more...] about Lux Hotel Review: Belmond La Residencia, Mallorca
Sunday Lunch at Adam Handling Chelsea Review
Desserts No no matter how full you are, there is always space for something sweet, and we made the short walk back across to inspect the dessert counter. There were four miniature desserts on offer (Chocolate and praline opera, Mandarin and ricotta, Strawberry and green tea petit gâteau, Lemon thyme and vanilla pyramid and a range of fresh fruits if you are looking to get some of your five a day in) and we couldn’t resist taking all four back to the table. Each of the desserts offered a different flavour note that rounded off the meal perfectly. Particular highlights were the refreshing lemon thyme and vanilla pyramid and the decadent chocolate and praline opera. … [Read more...] about Sunday Lunch at Adam Handling Chelsea Review
