The company in June submitted an application to the city for new signs and interior improvements to the grocery store space at 31874 Del Obispo St. Target’s small-format stores, about a third the size of the full-service versions, have been popping up around Orange County in recent years. Having Target’s small-format store in San Juan Capistrano would help local residents get their basic daily goods and services, and provide convenient in-store pick-up options for those shopping online, company representative Tammie Moreno wrote to the city. Currently, the closest Target stores are a few miles away in Mission Viejo and San Clemente.
